BALLYRAGGET/BALLYOUSKILL COMMUNITY ALERT - A cabaret in aid of Ballyragget/Ballyouskill Community alert will be held in the Wheel Inn on the 17th March with music supplied by the band Cupid. Admission is €5 and there will be numerous spot-prizes on the night. All proceeds from this event are going towards buying alarms for the elderly in our community so please lend your support to this worthy cause.

DRUMMING WORKSHOP - The Green Room, Rathbeagh Farmhouse, Ballyragget is hosting a Recreational and African Drumming Workshop Facilitated by Eddie O’Neill ( on Easter Monday 1st April 2013 from 2 pm till 4:30 pm. For all flower arranging classes you will be given guidelines on what to bring when you book in. Beginners most welcome – children welcome with an adult. Private classes can be arranged for groups right throughout the year. Suitable clothing and footwear required for outdoor classes – premises and grounds are wheelchair accessible. SCOIL NAOMH BHRIDE ENROLMENT - Scoil Naomh Bhride, Ballyragget are now accepting applications for the 2013 – 2014 School Year. Forms con be obtained from the school office or by contacting the secretary on 056 -8833606. Enrolment forms should be returned to the school by 22nd March 2013.

BALLYRAGGET COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP - There are still a few places available in our Playgroup and Montessori for Free Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme (ecce) starting in September 2013. The ecce scheme provides a free year of early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age. In general children are eligible for free ecce scheme if they are aged three years and two months and less than four years seven months on the 1st September of the year that the child will be starting playgroup – if you wish for your child to avail of the free scheme please contact the playgroup on 056 – 8830119 or 086 – 846867 or email to book a place or call and view our purpose built facility in Chapel Avenue anytime during open hours - 9am to 12 noon and 12.30 to 3.30 daily Monday to Friday.

SCOIL CHIARAIN ENROLMENT 2013-2014 - Scoil Chiaráin is now accepting enrolments for 2013-2014 for pupils starting in second class in August/September. Enrolments forms are available from the school or the school’s website Completed forms should be returned to the school before Friday, March 15th. BALLYRAGGET/BALLYOUSKILL LOURDES INVALID FUND - The Ballyragget/Ballyouskill Lourdes Invalid Fund Committee would like to announce once again requesting any invalid seeking financial assistance and wishing to travel to Lourdes this May with the Ossory Pilgrimage to put their names forward in writing to any of the committee members – please note that the closing date is the 17th March 2013.

FITKIDS EASTER CAMP - Come join our fun active multi-sports Easter Camp which provides a wide variety of activities and sports to keep kids entertained during the Easter holidays. The camp will run from Monday 25th March to Thursday 28th March at the Ballyragget GAA grounds from 10.00am to 2.30pm. Our programmes are age appropriate and are a great foundation for any sport, teaching children the fundamentals of exercise - strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, agility and co-ordination in a safe and fun environment. Appropriate fun high energetic activities are provided for camp age groups 3-4 years 5-8 years and 9-12 years. Activities include: tumbling and gymnastic obstacle circuits using Fitkids specialised equipment, soccer, tag-rugby, tennis, basketball, dodge ball, active running and relay games, parachute games and of course Easter games, arts and crafts. INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL DEFEAT - Hard Luck to the Intermediate Football team who lost out in the league final against Ballyhale Shamrocks on a score line of 2-12 to 2-7.

PITCH IMPROVEMENT - Kilkenny CBS will again host the match between Tipperary under 21’s and Kilkenny under 21’s for CBS pitch improvement fund on Wednesday night 13th of March Admission is €5. Special guest on the night will be the Liam McCarthy cup.

FUN DAY - Kilkenny County Board are hosting a family fun day at Gowran park on the 23rd of March adult entry on the day €15 or tickets available from club €10. Under 16’s free.

CAKE SALE - The hurling club will hold a home bake sale on Saturday morning 30th of March (Holy Saturday) at Glenvale all donations and support greatly appreciated.

BOOK CLUB- The book for next month’s is The Housemaid’s Daughter by Barbara Mutch. The Book Club will meet on Tuesday 2nd April in the Hogan Stand and new members are always welcome.

NAOMH BRID- Preparations for the coming season have been continuing, with specialist tuition for incoming team mentors delivered this week. It is very encouraging that so many people have made themselves available to help in the running of the club, by agreeing to act as officers, coaches, trainers and members of the executive committee. The newly elected Chairman, Noel Cummins, has thanked everybody for their commitment and encouraged them to participate fully in the club’s activities. The executive committee for 2013 comprises- Helen Kelly, Claire Morrissey, Karen Phelan, Mags Southgate, Bernie O’ Doherty and Brid Kavanagh. This will be the club’s sixteenth year in existence and we know that everyone involved will try to ensure that it will be an enjoyable and successful one. Naomh Brid caters for girls up to under 14 level and great credit is due to all who have served so generously since Naomh Brid’s foundation.  Marie Gannon, Marie Holland, Bernie Dunne Carmel Walsh Kenny, Eileen Mulhall and Carmel Mc Dermott were prominent among those who helped to establish and develop the club, while many others played their parts in the intervening years. We wish all of our members the best of luck for the season and look forward to the training sessions, the games and the blitz series for younger players.

BROOKVILLE SPIN THE WHEEL - RESULTS The winner of the in house draw was James Farrell €65 the Jackpot spin was Madge Brennan who won €50 and the sellers prize was won by Eddie Brennan €25. Next week’s Jackpot is €3250 and is in Ronan’s Bar. Be in to win.

TEAM NEWS - Brookville lost by a single goal to Thomastown at the weekend. The team played well but could not find a way to score against a staunch Thomastown defence. Final score Brookville 0 Thomastown 1

ERINS OWN GAELIC FOOTBALL-  Erins Own Girls Gaelic football Club was established in 2012.We are looking for all those girls aged 7 to 8 ,U10 & U14 who are interested in playing Gaelic football in 2013. We are also taking expressions of interest from girls born in years 1995 & 1996 to form an U18/Minor team. Note. If your town or village doesn’t offer girls Gaelic football the girls are then eligible to play in Castlecomer until those towns or villages form football teams.

All new players will be made to feel very welcome.
