The lotto of October Bank Holiday weekend will be held on Tuesday night October 30 in O’Connell’s, Cullohill with a possible jackpot of 3,700 euro. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.

Pilates - New Pilates sessions, last one before Christmas will commence in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow on Tuesday October 30 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm for seven weeks. Places are limited and booking is essential. For more details contact Margaret at 086-8547710.

Parents Council - The Parents Council of Our Lady’s Meadow Primary School would like to thank everyone who supported their Cabaret in Dec’s Bar recently. A great night was had by all and a profit of 790 euro was raised for the benefit of the school. Thank you for your continued support all the year through.

Youth Choir - Durrow youth choir will commence rehearsals on Tuesday November 6 at 4.15 pm . new members are always welcome and for more details contact Vicky Murphy at 086-1000230.

Blood - Many thanks to everyone who attended the Blood Transfusion Clinic in Durrow on Thursday. Over 100 units were donated, this is down on previous visits but with many families sick with the flu and the very bad weather the turnout was poor. We look forward to a much busier clinic the next time.

Whist - The monthly Killermogh Parishes Whist Drive will be held in the Parocial Hall, Cork Road, Durrow on Thursday night October 25 at 8 pm . All are welcome and a great night of cards is assured

The Gathering 2013 - Durrow development Forum are currently devising a calendar of events for The Gathering 2013. A meeting will be held in the library on Tuesday October 30 at 8.30 to discuss possible events to be held in Durrow during 2013. For example, School and club reunions. All are welcome to attend particularly representatives from local clubs and groups who have an interest in holding an event in conjunction with Durrow Development Forum to celebrate The Gathering 2013.

St. Fergals College Rathdowney - There will be an open evening for prospective First Year Students and their parents on Thursday October 25 from 5.30 to 8.00 pm at St Fergal’s College. Students may be enrolled on the night.

MacGiolla Phadraig way Walk - The return leg of the MacGiolla Phadraig way walk from Gathabawn to Durrow will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 29 October. Registration in Mackey’s bar Gathabawn from 11.45 am. The walk will begin at 12 noon sharp. Refreshments will be served in Dec’s Bar Durrow afterwards. A bus will take walkers from Durrow to Gathabawn at 11.15 am. And a shuttle bus will take people back to Gathabawn. A small fee will apply.

Church gate collection - A collection in aid of Durrow Community centre will be held on Saturday October 27 and Sunday 28. Your support would be appreciated as funds are urgently required to help cover the overhead costs of the centre.

Durrow Tidy Towns - Durrow has been awarded Overall winners in Category C of the Laois Federation of Tidy Towns Competition 2012. we also have been awarded overall Winners in the Inter-County Litter Challenge. The presentation of prizes will be held in Laois County Hall on Monday October 22 at 12.30. We wish to thank all householders Businesses and the FAS team for their great efforts in keeping the town clean, litter free and very will presented over the summer months.

Golf Classic - East midlands Parkinson’s Association are holding a golf Classic in Abbeyleix Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday October 29. Team of four costs 120 Euro . Contact Abbeyleix Golf Club on 05787 31450 for time sheet. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
