COMMUNITY GAMES QUIZ - Congrats to the Lisdowney Community Games Under 14 Table Quiz team who came first in the County Kilkenny Community Games Quiz Final on Friday night in the Club House Hotel, Kilkenny. The teams consisted of Eimear Walsh, Claire O’Carroll, Jack McGree and Chloe Mullins. Lisdowney’s second team of Laura O’Sullivan, Aoibheann Murphy, Holly Moore and Ellen O’Carroll came fifth in the final. This was a remarkable achievement for Lisdowney. Lisdowney will now represent County Kilkenny in the National Finals in Athlone for the second year in a row.
HANDWRITING COMPETITION - Congrats to the winners of the Lisdowney Community Games Under 10 Handwriting Competition: In the girls’ competition, Grace Fogarty from Gathabawn came first and Anna Scott from Clontubrid came second and, in the boys’ competition, Alan Dunphy from Clontubrid came first and Richard McEvoy from Lisdowney came second. All four have now qualified for the County Kilkenny Community Games Handwriting Finals which will be held tonight (Wednesday, 13th March 2013) at 6.30 pm in Bennettsbridge Hall. Entry is €2 per child. They are wished the best of luck in the final. Lisdowney Community Games Committee wishes to thank Mr Larry Hamilton for judging the competition and the principals and teachers in each of the three parish schools for co-ordinating the entries.
LISDOWNEY COMMUNITY GAMES ART - Best wishes to the young Lisdowney artists who will take part in the County Kilkenny Community Games Art Finals tonight (Wednesday, 13th March 2013) from 6.30 – 9 pm in Bennettsbridge Hall. Children should bring their own colours. Paper will be provided. Entry is €2 per child.

SCOIL NAOMH FIACHRA TABLE QUIZ - The Parents’ Council of Scoil Naomh Fiachra, Clontubrid, wish to thank all those who attended and contributed to their annual Table Quiz, which was held in Mackeys’ Bar, Gathabawn, last Saturday night. Congrats to Colin Dunphy’s team who came out tops on the night. The Chairperson of the Parents’ Council, Caroline Tallis, thanked everyone for their support. She also thanked Jack Dunphy, who compiled and asked the questions; and Tommy Maher and Philip Walsh who took care of the scoreboard.

FLORA WOMEN’S MINI MARATHON FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS - Are you interested in doing the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon (walk or run) on Monday, 3rd June 2013, and help to raise funds for local schools – a fun day out and a chance to get moving between now and then? GAA BORD NA nOG - Lisdowney Bord Na nOG will bag pack this Friday, 15th, and Saturday, 16th March 2013, at Supervalu Ballyragget. The rota will run from 10am - 8pm both days. Slots on rota will be for two hours. Please text your name, preferred date and time slot to 086 6995003. Parents/Guardians are asked to volunteer two hours to this fund raising exercise for the Lisdowney Pitch Development fund.
UNDERAGE HURLING - Hurling has resumed for boys and girls from Under 6 up to Under 12 in Lisdowney GAA Club and will continue every Saturday morning from 10 am to 11 am. All are welcome. Children must wear helmets and shin guards.
SCHOOLS HURLING - The Lisdowney Schools Hurling Team will commence their competitive season this afternoon when they take on Gowran. The team, which is managed by Tommy Maher, is wished all the best.
VOCATIONAL SCHOOL HURLING - Well done to the Lisdowney lads who were involved in the Colaiste Mhuire Junior Team who played Causeway from Kerry in the All Ireland Semi-final on Saturday in Limerick. Causeway won the game by two points.

LISDOWNEY GAA & CAMOGIE CLUB LOTTO - The numbers drawn in the Lisdowney GAA and Camogie Club Lotto on Monday, 4th March 2013, were 4, 10, 20 and 21. There was no winner. Match 3 winners were Eileen Carroll, Dan O’Hara, Caroline Hudner, Mary Bowden (x2) and Alice Thornton.

EASTER SUNDAY WALK - Take a stroll on the MacGiollaphadraig Way (Durrow to Gathabawn) on Easter Sunday, starting at the Church Car Park, Durrow, at 12.30 pm with registration from 12 noon. A bus will be available before and after the walk from Gathabawn to Durrow. Refreshments will be available afterwards in Mackeys’ Bar.
