Fort Rangers took their first three points of the season at the weekend when they defeated East End Utd. A 4-2 in win in Wallslough was secured by forward extraordinaire, Emmet Nugent who bagged a hat trick,with Larry Forristal producing the final nail for The Bennetsbridge side.

Next Sunday, October 13, the emphasis switches to cup action, when Fort take on Clara from Offaly in the FAI Cup. The match is due to take place in Wallslough at 11am, at the time of print. This may be changed. Cup action continues Sunday week in Dublin with Fort having an away game in the second round of the Leinster Junior Cup against Portland F.C.


Fort Rangers schoolboys had two resounding victories at the weekend. The Under-9 side defeated Evergreen by an unprecedented high score while the Under-11’s continue on their winning way with success over Southend Utd.

Congratulations must go to the Danesfort Under-14 hurlers who won the Roinn B League by defeating Mooncoin 3-9 to 1-13, in the League Final played in Ballyhale. The team management were Richie O’Keeffe, Kevin Barragry and Peter Davis.


Danesfort Minor team have reached the Kilkenny Honda Centre Hurling Championship Roinn B semi-final. The local boys will face tough opposition when they take on Clara in Freshford this Saturday, October 12. Danesfort defeated Barrow Rangers 1-11 to 0-13, and Clara beat Graigue Ballycallan in the quarter-finals.


The Going Strong Club meet on Wednesday at 11.00am in Danesfort Community Centre. This morning we welcome our guest Kelly Dungavan from Age Action Ireland. Danesfort Parent Baby and Toddler Group; Meet on Monday mornings from 10.30am to 12.30pm in Danesfort Community Centre. Toddlers enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, action songs. When the weather permits all can enjoy outdoor parent and toddler walks on the adjoining trace. There is a healthy snack and drink available for all little ones with tea/coffee and snacks for parents. Fee: €3 per family. New members are always very welcome. Contact Dympna on 086-8322086.


The Juvenile Committee and team Mentors will have their final meeting of the season on Tuesday October 15 at 8.00pm in the new clubrooms. The committee asks that all mentors would attend, where possible, to give feedback and who may have suggestions for the coming season. All club items (first aid, bibs, balls, hurls, keys etc) allocated to each team at the start of the season must be returned that evening. Danesfort Club gear will be available to order/prepay from 6.30pm to 8.00pm in the clubrooms ie shorts, skirts, jerseys, tops, bags all bearing our club crest. These make great Christmas presents and help with filling the stockings. All prices are on the Danesfort Gaa website.


Every Wednesday in Danesfort Community Centre with a bus service from Kilkenny City.


A Golf Classic will be held in Callan Golf Club in aid of Mount Carmel Supported Care Home. Teams of four, any combination cost €60.
