Community Text Alert - A very successful meeting was held in Gortnahoe Community Centre on Monday, April 22 and the following officers were elected Chairperson Joe Dufficey, Secretary Maeve Maher, Joint treasurers Noel Quinlan, John Mulhall and Anne Healy, Assistant Secretary Mally Noonan, PRO Mary Cleary. Committee Tom Ryan, Liam Teehan, Margaret Lanigan, Eileen Fitzgerald and Sadie Heffernan. Honorary members Fr Irwin PP and Fr O’Rourke.
Also present were Seargent Michelle Tierney and James O’Neill of Muintir Na Tire. A launch night in conjunction with other Community Text Alert areas will take place in Killenaule in Mid May.
Bereavement - The death occurred of James McGarry, Boulick formerly of Inchrourke, Fennor on Friday, April 19. Reposal was at Doyle’s Funeral Home Urlingford on Monday, April 22. Removal took place on Wednesday for Requim Mass to The Sacred Heart Church, Gortnahoe followed by burial in Fennor Cemetery.
James is deeply missed by his wife Martina, sons Shane and James daughter Geraldine, grandchildren, sister, brother, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
First Communion - First Communion for Glengoole and Ballysloe children will be in Glengoole Church this Saturday, May 4 at 11am.
Family Mass - This Sunday, May 5 in Glengoole at 10am and Gortnahoe at 11.15am. Theme is honouring Mary ‘Queen of The May’.
Cake Sale - There will be a cake sale in Glengoole Hall in aid of ‘The Flying Nun’ this Sunday, May 5 after The Family mass. Donations of cakes, buns, tarts, bread and scones most welcome. Hall open on Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 9.30am.
Parish Annual - The next meeting will be on Monday, May 27 at 8pm in Fr O’Rourke’s. New ideas and suggestions for the 2013 annual would be appreciated. Items can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or handed in to Gortnahoe Post Office.
MFRC Course Information Meeting - If you are under 35 and in receipt of Social Protection come to an open morning at the Millennium Family Resouce Centre, Glengoole on Tuesday, May 14 from 9.30am to 12 noon.
Good Shepherd Cemetery - The committee will hold a Get-Together in the cemetery this Wednesday, May 1 at 7pm to plan the clean up for this years mass. All family members with relatives buried in the cemetery would be welcome to come along and hep. Annual mass will be on Friday, June 28 at 7.30pm.
Moyne Drama Group - Will stage ‘Sive’ at the Moyne Hall on this Friday and Saturday May 3 & 4 at 8.30pm each night. Tickets at door but early arrival is advised.
Pioneers - Congratulations to all the young pioneers and those who received Silver and Gold Certificates and pins on Friday, April 26.
