GAA NEWS - Clara seniors got off to a great start in this year’s league campaign at Nowlan Park last Saturday as they defeated O’Loughlin Gaels by 0-18 to 0-17.

GAA NEWS - Clara seniors got off to a great start in this year’s league campaign at Nowlan Park last Saturday as they defeated O’Loughlin Gaels by 0-18 to 0-17.

On an evening that was perfect for hurling Clara started the stronger and they led at half time by 0-8 to 0-6. 
The second half started the same as the first with Keith Hogan scoring a free. O’Loughlins responded with three pointed frees of their own. Clara regained the lead with two pointed frees from Keith Hogan. O’Loughlins got the next three points to take the lead for the first time in the game.

This lead didn’t last long with Conor Phelan scoring from play and Keith pointing another free. Another pointed free by O’Loughlins brought the game level before Ciarán Prendergast and Keith Hogan got a point each from play. O’Loughlins added another before Austin Murphy added another of his own.

With time almost up O’Loughlins really started to pile on the pressure and got a point which was answered quickly by a pointed free by Keith Hogan. O’Loughlins kept the pressure up and scored 2 frees to bring the scores level. With normal time up both teams pushed for that winning score and with only a few seconds remaining Clara got a free which Keith Hogan calmly put over the bar. Final Score Clara 0-18 O’Loughlins 0-17.

Clara’s next game is on Sunday, May 12 in Nowlan Park at 3.30pm.

Not to be out done Clara Juniors had a good win last Sunday beating Tullaroan in Tullaroan on a score line of 1-12 to 1-15. Tullaroan went in at half time with a 2 point lead Clara 0-7 Tullaroan 0-9. Clara scores coming from David Mulrooney a point, Peter Nolan 2 points and 4 points for Brian Prendergast. Brian Prendergast scored another 5 points in the second half. Killian Phelan got 2 points, Micheal McDonald scored a 1 and Clara’s goal came from Eoing Curtis.

UNDERAGE TRAINING - Training is back for underage teams (U-12 to U-6) for both hurling and camogie on Monday evenings from 7 to 8.15. New players are always welcome at any age level.

G4M+O - Training is back up and running on Friday nights from 8 to 9.30. New members are always welcome for both inside and outside of Clara Parish.

GAELIC FOR GIRLS - Is on every Thursday from 7 to 8 in Clara GAA Grounds. This is for 8 to 13 year olds. It is a fun introduction to Ladies Football for the underage setup.

FOR SALE - DVD’s are on sale for the Intermediate finals played in 2012/2013. The DVD’s will be sold as a set. The set includes: League Final, County Final, Leinster Final, All-Ireland Semi Final and the All-Ireland Final. Please contact Trevor (085-1079791) to reserve your set. There are also Mugs for sale to commemorate the success of the last year. There are three mugs in the set,one for each Intermediate Final that was won, listing the names of the full panel for each final. CLARA ICA - At the AGM in April the following offices were elected: Frances Shortall President, Nellie Hoyne Secetary, Mary Hennessy Treasurer. Membership fee is now due. Next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 14. We are going to Wicklow on our annual outing on Wednesday, May 29. Anyone wishing to join us would be most welcome.
