NAOMH BRID CAMOGIE
As the 2013 season ends, we are delighted to record that it was a progressive year for the club. The increased participation by players and adults meant that training and coaching was provided for a total of 50 girls, from under 8 to under 14, every Tuesday evening . Sincere thanks are extended to the new coaches, who quickly learned the skills of the game and helped our players to improve. Our flagship team is the under 14s and they had a tremendous season. The girls won five, drew one and lost one game in the League, so they finished second to Lisdowney. Then in the championship, we beat Tullogher in the quarter final and played O’ Loughlin Gaels in the semi final, on a beautiful August Saturday, at Jenkinstown. Unfortunately, we didn’t hit our best form and bowed out of the competition. The experience gained will stand to the players next year and only four of this team will be over age. Best wishes and thanks to Imelda Lennon, Eve Hegarty, Karen Delaney and Katie Brophy for their contributions to Naomh Brid. As we don’t field teams beyond under 14 levels, this talented quartet will play their camogie elsewhere next year. The under 12 team had some narrow losses in the League campaign, despite playing very well. They hit form in the Shield Final and deservedly ended the year on a positive note. Nationally, we extend our congratulations and best wishes to Joan O’ Flynn, a former President, who has recently been appointed Ard Stiurthoir of the Camogie Association.

Sunday 6th of October was a sad day for the St Patricks GAA club when the intermediate side were defeated in the Intermediate Hurling Championship semi final by the Rower Inistioge. The team had put in some outstanding performances this year with every member of the panel stepping up when needed throughout the league, Byrne Cup & Championship games. However on this occasion the side were not on form and the game ended on a score line Rower Inistioge 2-14 St Patricks 2-9. Full match report in the sports section. Team: Michael Gannon, Paddy Cahill, Stephen Staunton, John Mooney, James Gannon, Kieran Delaney, Bill Staunton, Capt, Brian Brook Phelan, Geoff Brennan, Barry Staunton, Seoirse Kenny, Kevin Kelly, Joe Brennan, Eoghan Bergin, Michael Brennan Mark TylerConor Delaney Robbie Healy Jody Phelan Sean Mooney Alan Ruth Stephen Roberts Mark Staunton James Staunton ermot Brophy Paddy McEvoy onal Brennan avid Kelly Liam Lacey Conor Foley Michael Kenny Jack Ryan Brian Mulhall Jack O’Shea John Butler John Staunton Brendan Neary James Morrissey Brendan Dooley Niall Staunton Billy Morrissey. The second blow of the day was expected but nonetheless just as sad as our team manager Maurice Aylward’s time came to an end. Maurice had come to the club for a 3 year stint with the promise to obtain a junior championship win for the club which he did in his first year and so much more taking the team and community all the way to Croke Park. Maurice Alyward is a true gentleman who believed in the St Patricks club, players, and community and was also so complimentary about everyone. He had a long journey each week to training yet he made it without complaint and at times when the weather was unkind. He taught St Patrick’s club a lot and his presence will be missed. The club would like to say a massive thank you to Maurice and his family who also became true honorary St Pat’s supporters and wish them well in the future. A massive thank you also to Tom Phelan, Matt Ruth and Seamus Lacey for their dedication to the team and club and the huge amount of time they give to the club.
