A MONSTER Charity Tractor Run will set off from Johnstown this Sunday in aid of the Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team.
Registration will start at 11am at the Square in Johnstown, with the event kicking off at noon. From Johnstown, the tractor run will travel to Durrow, Ballyragget, and Kilkenny city via John Street, Rose Inn Street and High Street, and then Freshford and Urlingford, arriving back in Johnstown around 5pm.
Bucket collectors will be out in each town to take donations for the cause.
Registration is €20, and anyone who registers a tractor will be entered into a draw for a weekend away in Killarney, a prize sponsored by Larry Whyte, Pat Costigan and Leeson Stanley.
Old and new tractors can be entered, and all are welcome.
That evening, there will be refreshments in Paschal Ryan’s Bar, the Square, Johnstown, with music by DJ Tracey Edwards and the band Baby Powers. The food is sponsored by Neil Tynan and Vincent Morrissey.
“We hope to have nice weather and a big turnout,” said secretary Jerry Fogarty, who is on the organising committee with Larry Whyte as chairman and John Mackey as treasurer.
The tractor run will be led by motorcycle road marshals, Mr Fogarty said, and he thanked Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny gardaí for their support.
He also thanked all of the event sponsors and Catherine Quinlan of the Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team.
