GOLFING SOCIETY - The proceeds from the Society’s annual golf classic which this year takes place at Borris Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday, June 4 will be used to support the Duiske College Transition Year Leadership Programme which is accredited to the National University of Ireland, Galway and is part of the Albert Schweitzer’s Leadership for Life Programme.
21 trnasition year students from Duiske College will be selecte for the foundation course at NUI Galway which will involve 90 hours of instruction and project workin three modules involving leadership,community and project workwhich will enable the participants to put into practice their learning from the previous modules by actively engaging in community project work of their choice and presenting a portfolioon completion.This is probably the most important contribution the society has made in its 22 rears supporting charities and worthy causes in the local community and they are seeking widespread support in nurturing the education of the children.
