WHAT A YEAR - It is hard to believe that St. Brigid’s Camogie Club have reached the end of another camogie season and boy what a season. St. Brigid’s Under 8 panel have certainly enjoyed it. It has been action packed to say the least. The girls worked hard and had a very busy schedule. They travelled to Clara, Dicksboro, Larchfield, Conahy and to neighbours Tullaroan. They enjoyed a number of games at the Club’s Family Fun Day. They hosted their own blitz at the beginning of September. Several teams also visited them in Kilmanagh including Piltown, Danesfort at the Harps from Durrow.

Their final match took place on Saturday, 15 September in Danesfort. It was a real battle from the thrown in. St. Brigid’s girls never gave up even when Danesfort got two early goals to which St. Brigid’s replied with two of their own. All their scores were the result of great team work and determination. Molly, Claire, Ella and Katie worked so hard in the back line clearing many balls. Ella, Louise and Katie all took a turn in the goal and stopped numerous shots. Moya, Orla and Ellie did amazing work in midfield blocking and fighting for every ball and supplying great ball into their forwards. Lauren Ronan, Robyn, Louise and Lauren East all worked extremely to produce some excellent scores.

Alas, despite every effort, victory slipped from their grasp in the last few minutes of the match. The girls can be very proud of themselves on a real team effort. Well done girls, everyone a winner having worked so hard. They have enjoyed many happy memories this year and here’s to many more to come.

Thanks to all the parents who have been extremely supportive through the year. Keep practising girls, everyone is looking forward to your 2013 games already.
