BAGENALSTOWN COMMUNITY CELEBRATION NIGHT - On behalf of the community Town Clerk, Janette O’Brien, has announced that following our tremendous win at the Co Operation Ireland Pride of Place Awards 2012, the community of Bagenalstown is hosting a celebration night to mark this momentous occasion.

The Celebration takes place on Thursday, December 6 at 8pm in the McGrath Hall Bagenalstown and ALL of the community of Bagenalstown are invited to attend.

This win is as a result of the efforts of ALL of our community, as well as businesses and agencies, coming together and working to showcase all of the wonderful things that our area has to offer.

The Bagenalstown Youth Group will also launch their DVD of judging day on the night. Light refreshments will be served too.

Janette encourages everybody to go along and enjoy the night “The community sincerely thanks organisations for their invaluable contribution and would greatly appreciate if you could extend the invitation to every person that became involved through your participation (either in the preparations for or on the judging day) in the Co Operation Ireland Pride of Place project. PRESENTATION NIGHT - Muinebheag Juvenile GAA Club is having a presentation night in the Manor House, Bagenalstown on Friday December 7 at 7pm sharp. The club AGM will take place in St. Brigid’s Boys National School on Thursday, December 13 at 8pm. The club needs the support of as many adults as possible at this meeting. Muinebheag is one of the biggest and most successful juvenile clubs in the county, catering for hundreds of boys each year in both hurling and Gaelic football. Coaching is provided in both codes for boys between the ages of 6 and 16. New mentors, coaches and committee members are always needed. Parents can demonstrate their support for the club by attending the AGM.

AGM - Bagenalstown St Patricks Day Parade Committee will hold their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday night Dec. 11 in the McGrath hall at 8.30pm. All existing members are asked to attend. The committee would welcome new members on the night as there is always help needed on the day. However if you do not want to get involved in the committee they would be delighted to hear from you with any ideas you might have for next year’s parade

MS SOCIETY - The Carlow branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society would like to thank most sincerely the people of Bagenalstown parish who contributed so
generously to the recent church gate collection. A special thanks to the collectors. The amount collected €715.37.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS FAIR - On Sunday December 9 the historic surroundings of Duckett’s Grove House and Estate will be transformed into Carlow’s own Winter Wonderland when it hosts magical grotto of traditional Christmas activities featuring a large craft and food market featuring over 70 stands and musical entertainment awaits all visitors in the courtyard area adjacent to the main house. Featuring ceramics and knitwear, hand crafted enamels, art, jewellery, embroidery, Christmas cards and decorations, this fair is guaranteed to appeal to anybody seeking a special gift or those who just want to browse and soak in the Christmas atmosphere. On the food front visitors will be adequately catered for with an extensive range of Christmas breads, cakes, puddings, mince pies, seasonal fruit tarts, jams, chutneys, apple juice, hampers and fresh organic meats. Not to forget - mistletoe and Christmas plants and wreaths, all produced locally will also be in supply. 
For the kiddies ...Santa Claus is coming to Town....there will be a Santa Grotto with a free present for every child, free children’s face painting, live nativity scene, Christmas stories and performances by Carlow based musical and entertainment groups. At 2 and 4 p.m. storytelling workshops by renowned children’s author Dave Donohue will take place in the courtyard. As a special treat, all these activities are free to attendees.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMME - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre’s Afterschool Programme is now offering grinds in Irish, History and German from Monday to Thursday from 4.15pm. MEN’S SHED - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre is launching a Men’s Shed on Friday, January 11 from 10.30am - 12.30pm. Calling on all men! If you have some free time on your hands and are looking for a new and exciting challenge, well then the Bagenalstown Men’s Shed is for you....there are a number of activities planned. The FRC Mission is “Let people judge you on what you do tomorrow rather than what you did yesterday.” Open to everyone. CREATIVE CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre has launched a Creative Christmas Workshop and it takes place every Tuesday night from 7pm-9pm at the Centre and for a small fee of €3 with all materials supplied!
