Dungarvan: On Christmas Alert

Christmas - The people of Dungarvan village are no different to the residents of many Irish Villages. There are local issues, personal disagreements and personalty clashes. The Dungarvan and District development Association and Tidy Towns Committee have managed to steer clear of confrontation and concentrate on what is good for the Village. The Committee that meets on the 2nd Monday of every month has earned the respect and support of the whole community. At the last Monthly meeting it was agreed that the annual switching on of the lights on the Village Christmas Tree will take place on Sunday December 16th at 5-30 pm. This celebration has been a mark of the start of the Christmas season in Dungarvan since it’s inception in 1999. Erecting and decorating the tree needs many hands and all volunteers are invited to become involved, come on and get involved this is your village and watching the joy on the young childrens faces makes it all worth while. Santa will drop in on the day with his sack of gifts for all the children, and it’s all free.

EXAMINATING THE RELEVANCE OF SCRIPTURE - On Wednesday 5th, 12th and 19th of December Tomas Maher will host an evening of reflection on the word of God in reference to the season of Advent. This a coming together of people who want to deepen their understanding of Scriptual Readings as they apply to today’s world. Make your opinions known.

DUNGARVAN CARDS - Winners last Thursday with 11 games were brothers Sam & Lar Gibbons. Second prize was shared by ;Danny McDonald / Paddy Sutton / Larry Walsh /Helen Greene. Table prize went to Michael Phelan /Marti Hanlon .

YOUNG IRELANDS LOTTO - No Jackpot winner. Numbers drawn ; 4-7-13-25. E 35 winners ; Darragh Phelan , Ned Ryan , Catherine Cleere, Paddy / Bernie, Beatrice Treacy.
