CHRISTMAS CONCERT - On Thursday, 7 December at 8:00pm - Christmas Concert: after many years of absence from Ballycallan Community Centre the Christmas Variety Concert is to return. There is an abundance of talent in the parish and it would be a shame not to show this off to as many as possible. For anyone wishing to enter into the Variety concert please contact any of the committee members to do so.
BRENNANS BAR - Next Saturday, 8 December will see a bit of craic agus Ceól with the ever popular Timmy Chambers. On Saturday, 15 December the annual Brennan’s Christmas Party is being held. This is a night not to miss with great music and entertainment for every. All are welcome. SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY - Droicheád Family Resource Centre is hosting a FREE Senior Citizens Christmas Party on Sunday, 9 December at 12.30pm in The Friary in Callan. Any 60 years of age or over, is very welcome to come and join in for a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. CHRISTMAS CAROLS - The first of this season’s Carol singing kicks off with Mullinahone Parish Choir. They will hold a celebration of Christmas carols and songs on Sunday, 9 December at 7pm in St. Michaels Church, Mullinahone. Admission is free and all are welcome.
ST. BRIGID’S WHIST DRIVE - The next whist drive in aid of St. Brigid’s Camogie Club, Kilmanagh will be their Monster Christmas one which will take place on Friday night, 14 December at the Palmerstown venue.
There will be lots of prizes such as hampers, vouchers, chocolates and Christmas goodies and more on the night. All are welcome.
ITS A BOY - Congratulations to Lorna and Philip Cody, Tinnakilly on the birth of a baby boy recently.
TABLE QUIZ RESULTS - River Rangers held their annual Table Quiz recently in Ryan’s Bar, Kilmanagh. A large crowd mulled over Quiz Master Gerry Dunne’s selection of questions. the innovative ‘Know Your Local yokel’ round drew mirth and laughter, as well as calls for its return at a future date.
After all the totting up the winners were Tom Kennedy, martin Fitzgerald, Rick Burke, Finn Ryan, Joe Delaney and Vinnie Corcoran.
Runners Up were Joe Ryan, Thomas Ryan and David Roche. Bronze Medallist’s were Eamon Marnell, Philly Cody and Pat Marnell.
Raffle winners were: Noel Brett - a mirror compliments of Tommy Dermody, Jimmy Murphy - Bottle of whiskey, Darragh Murphy - Bottle of Wine, Ann Marie Manogue - Hi-Viz vest and Philly Doheny - a jigsaw.
River Ranger’s Chairman Brendan Hayes thanked all for supporting the event and to Ryan’s for hosting it. he then proceeded to preset the winners medals to the squad who won the Ken and Michael Byrne Cup last season. As Brendan said, ‘it was more than a Cup victory’ and all agreed.
WHIST RESULTS - A whist drive was held in aid of St. Brigid’s Camogie Club held on Friday night, 23 November at Palmerstown Venue. A total of 16 tables were present. Top Score - Pat Delaney; Top Lady - Bridie Bergin; Top Gent - Fiona Noonan, Second Lady - Anne hickey; Second Gent (tie) - Tomas Dunne and Katie Coughlan; First half lady - Laurena Caldbeck; First half gent - Liam Healy; Second half lady - Maura Heffernan; Second half gent - James Mullins; Student - Michael Maher and Bill Cuddihy; Hatchers - Veronica Muldowney; Lowest score - Lilly Kirk.
Raffle winners were Sean Hickey, Maireád Murphy, Bridie Metcalfe, Rose Caldbeck, Christine Caldbeck, Maura Comerford, Hilary Murphy, Laura Ronan, Paddy Power, Lilly Kirk, Theresa Roche, Anna Robinson, Emer Keoghan and Bridie Maher.
A big thanks to the parents of the U10 Camogie panel for helping and donating prizes for the whist. It’s the turn of the parents of the U12 Camogie panel for the Christmas one.
