A meeting will be held on Thursday September 5 at 8.00pm in Danesfort Community Centre. Margaret Quinn, Community Development Officer with Muintir na Tir will talk on the night about setting up the text alert system. Our Garda Liaison Officer will also be in attendance to talk about general security in the home. As home security is something we are all very concerned about we would invite a member of every family to attend this meeting.

Bigger Prizes, More prizes!!! Hurling All-stars to attend the JJ Reddy, Danesfort 10k Run & 5k Fun Run which will be held on Sunday September 14 at 12.00 Noon.

The 10K run will have great prizes - 1st Place €200, 2nd Place €100 3rd Place €50, Course record €100, Over 40 and over 50 €30 for Men and Women; 5k Fun Run 1st €50, 2nd €25.

As always, The JJ Reddy Danesfort 10k Run and 5k Fun Run take place in the beautiful, tranquil and historic Kilkenny countryside between Danesfort and Burnchurch. It’s a beautiful undulating route, on quiet country roads, at a marvellous time of year for being out and about!

There is easy access to the start/finish for visitors either out the N10 from Kilkenny City (the club is on the right as you enter Danesfort) or from Junction 9 on the M9 motorway – the club is only 500m away from the junction (heading towards Kilkenny) and there is ample secure parking there.

This year’s JJ Reddy 10k in Danesfort Kilkenny is not only a beautiful picturesque 10k run (and 5k Fun Run), it also offers great prizes for the top 3 men and women

(1st Place €200, 2nd Place €100 3rd Place €50), and prizes for 1st and 2nd in the 5k.

Plus new this year, are prizes of €100 for a new course record in the 10k run - for both men and women participants – currently 31:57 for men and 41:09 for women - and prizes also of €30 for the winners of the over 40’s and over 50’s men and women categories running the 10k. As well as prizes for the 10k and 5k Fun Run, there are also spot prizes for ALL participants, so anyone could be a winner on the day…..

For serious runners and improvers, the 10k is a fully chip timed event. Entry is only €15 for the 10k and €10 for the 5k (€25 for a family).

Hurling All-stars Richie Hogan and Paul Murphy will be there to help with proceedings as well as our official starter Kilkenny hurler Paddy Hogan.

So with refreshments - for all - after the race, BBQ, raffle, bouncy castle etc. there really is something for everyone on the day.


Danesfort GAA & Parish Development Lotto Results for Draw Week 46 which was held on

Monday August 26 in the Grange Inn. The Jackpot on the night was €1,800 and the Numbers Drawn: 2 - 12 - 13. There was No Winner.Five Consolation Prizes of €30: Jim & Bill C/o Delaney’s Bar Patrick St, Philip Walsh - Rath, Seamus Lannon, Bernie Moore, Ger Bolger.mTwoPromoters Prizes of €20: Tom Mahony, Kieran Walsh.

Next draw will take place on Monday September 2 in Delaney’s Kells - Jackpot €1,900. Then in Sheridan’s Ennisnag, on Monday August 9.


With the St.Canice’s Credit Union Senior hurling league coming to a close Danesfort take on O’Loughlin Gaels in their final league game, in Thomastown, this Sunday September 8 at 1:00pm. Erin’s Own take on Shamrocks and Dicksboro meet Clara. Then it’s on to contest the First Round or the Quarter Finals, of the St. Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship, depending on the final shake up of the league table. The first round games of the championship will be played on the weekend of September 14 and 15. The quarter-finals will be played on Saturday and Sunday September28 and 29.

Clara with 6 points are on top of the league with Shamrocks a close second on score difference. Danesfort are level on 4 points with O’Loughlins while Dicksboro and Erins Own both have 2 points.


Congratulations to the Danesfort schoolboys who were selected on the various Kilkenny Development Squads who played last weekend. Padraig Mullen was on the Kilkenny under -14A panel who took part Tony Forristal U-14A tournament. Kilkenny had a win over Dublin but lost out to Cork in their 2nd game by 2 points.

Conor O’Keefe was on the under-14B team who took part in the Sonny Wallsh Tournament. Kilkenny won group games against Wexford and Limerick. They qualified for the final with a 2-3 to 1-5 victory over Tipperary. Kilkenny won the tournament defeating Waterford 3-14 to 0-3 in the final.

James Whitty, James Mullally, Jake Cullen, Sean Nolan were on the Michael Foley tournament under-15 South Kilkenny Team, who had wins over Dublin South and Offaly and lost to Wexford. They were defeated by Kilkenny North in Cup Semi-Final 1 -8 to 1-6 who went on To win the Final with a 3-3 to 0-9 win over Dublin.

Conor O’Neill was on the under -16 B Kilkenny squad who competed in the

Tipperary Supporters Club Tournament who lost to Kerry and Tipperary but ended with a win over Clare in their final game.


Danesfort Karate Club For boys and girls aged between 4 and 12 years old every Tuesday from 6pm - 6:45pm in Danesfort Community Centre. The club is now looking to add to its membership. Anybody interested in enrolling their children for karate contact Kevin 086 3668669.
