Goretti Foley from, Tom Foley’s yard in Carlow was looking after two horses in Gowran during Thyestes day.
Ms Foley said that her job is pretty much over by race day, the hard work goes into getting the horses fit for the race. She was looking after two horses Might Be Magic and Snow Spell. She described Might Be Magic as a “Miracle horse, who shouldn’t even be alive,” while her second horse running on the day Snow Spell, who went on to win at 14/1, as an honest horse.
“On race day we bring the horses down give the a brush and them looking well before the race. We might bring them on a bit of a walk to calm them down but most of the hard work is already done in the months before,” she said.
