TIDY TOWNS COMPETITION 2012-Starting time for the weekly clean-up is 8pm from the Square every Wednesday and your help and support would be very much appreciated. BALLYRAGGET FUN CAMP-Beat the Irish Summer and come along to our Fun Camps at Chapel Avenue, Ballyragget, where we have a large range of indoor activities to ensure your kids have fun regardless of the weather. These activities include- Photography, Music and Dance, Computers (including Wii fit), Piñata for fun and prizes, Cookery and lots of Arts and Crafts. Our Outdoor Activities include a trip to a Fire Station (get to ride in a Fire Engine), Pirates and Princesses Scavenger Hunt, Water Sports, Outdoor Play Activities including Teddy Bear’s Picnic and a Barbecue on final day. BE A GLEEK FOR A WEEK-Backstage Academy of Performing Arts is bringing a team of showbiz teachers to Ballyragget this July for a Glee Summer Camp for 7-13 year olds. The camp will run from 16th-20th July from 10am-1pm each day at the CYMS Hall. Students will have workshops in Drama, Singing and Dance each day using the songs from the GLEE TV series culminating in a presentation on the final day for parents and friends. Backstage, Ireland’s largest part-time Performing Arts school for young people has recently opened one of its Academies at Abbeyleix Manor Hotel. The company specialises in working with young people and the staff is a unique combination of teacher and professional working in Performing Arts. The fee for the full week of 15 hours is €45 but places are very limited and they will be filled on a first come, first served basis. GREEN WASTE-Dunmore Recycling Centre is now accepting green waste at €2 a bag or €70 per tonne. You can dispose of grass cuttings, hedge clippings etc. at the centre. Please avail of this facility and help keep our environment clean.

Activities include: tumbling and gymnastic circuits, fun games, agility obstacle courses, dance and improvisation activities, arts and crafts, team relays, soccer, tag rugby and much more. Cost is €70 per child, sibling rate of €55 places are limited to allow for instructor child ratio, 50% deposit per child to guarantee a place. FUN DAY ON THE GREEN-Ballyragget Community Playground Committee is hosting a fun day on the Green on June 24th from 12.30pm with lots of games and fun activities to take part in. There will be a barbecue where you can grab a bite to eat, fancy dress competition, pet show, hurling competitions, soccer competitions, face painting, music and much more. There will also be stalls selling a variety of items on the day including homemade produce, plants, bird feeders, flower boxes etc. All are welcome! TEAM NEWS-The Intermediate team were out in Round 3 of the Michael Lyng Motors Alyward cup last Wednesday evening against Conahy in Jenkinstown. The game ended on a high for the Intermediate men and mentors on a score line of 6 19 to 1-10. They next game in the campaign is Thursday night in Ballyragget against Tullaroan. The Junior B team played host to Galmoy on Sunday morning in a close fought contest which ended in a two point defeat. They are in action on Friday night in the replay against O’Loughlins in Ballyragget.
HURLING NEWS-St. Patrick’s Ballyragget were in action against Dicksboro on Thursday night last in Round 2 of the Michael Lyng Intermediate Hurling Alyward Cup at James Park. After a day of rain the evening opened up bright to allow the game to go ahead in some comfort. The Bally boys were on form on the night and played well. The game ending on a score line of St Patricks, Ballyragget 3-13 to Dicksboro 0-9. Round 3 of the campaign will take place tonight (Wednesday) against Conahy in the Polo Grounds Jenkinstown at 7.30. The Junior B team were in action in the County Junior B League Semi Final at Johnspark the very next night against O’Loughlin Gaels, this game ending on a draw of 3-10 to Ballyragget 0-19 to O’Loughlin Gaels. The replay of this game is yet to be fixed. The club would like to thank everyone who has supported the club and those who continue to support the club at each age level and through the various fundraising activities. It is truly appreciated.
PHELAN STONE TOURNAMENT-Bord Na nOg would like to thank everybody that participated in any way over the weekend for The Phelan, Stone and M&A Coach U11 hurling tournament. This event was a huge success with 24 teams taking part from near and far. Sincere thanks to all our sponsors for which we could not develop this event into one of the best tournaments in the country for this age group. To our dedicated team of organisers, attendants, hospitality volunteers, thank you for the time, effort and hard work over the last number of weeks in preparation for the entire event. We would also like to thank the Ballyragget community in general for their continued support and donations of cakes etc. Finally, we would like to thank all the teams, their mentors and supporters that travelled regardless of the weather. PART TIME CLASSES IN HORTICULTURE-Kilkenny Leader Partnership (KLP)in partnership with Co. Kilkenny VEC’s Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) are currently accepting applications from all early school leavers interested in participating on a Horticulture FETAC Level 4 accredited programme in Castlecomer. It is expected that the course will run over a 1 - 2 day period from September 2012-June 2013. FREE places are available on this part-time programme to applicants with Junior Certificate standard of education. N.B.: Priority for places will be given to early school leavers in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance and/or Job Seekers Benefit. DEEN CELTIC ACADEMY 2012-The highly successful Deen Celtic AFC Academy 2012 commences on Monday July 9th to Friday 13th July. It is now in its third year. Final Registration takes place at Deen Celtic Clubhouse on Saturday 9th June from 3 to 4pm. Registration forms already completed can be returned to Schoolboy Managers or any member of Deen Celtic Committee .The Cost of the Academy is €60. A Kit is supplied with camp includes following club wear, a Windbreaker, Tee-Shirt, Socks & Gym Bag. This camp is not for members only. It is run to introduce children to the basics skills of soccer. Should an individual wish to sign for the club thereafter, the player has some of the Kit required for Deen Celtic included to help reduce costs to families in the difficult times.
