SINCERE SYMPATHY - The death has taken place at his residence at St Mary’s Avenue, Urlingford of Mr Aidan O’Brien. The news of his passing was deeply regretted over a wide area. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great cook and served in the Army and travelled to Congo and Lebanon. He was a quiet gentleman, it bore testimony to his popularity with the huge attendance at the removal of his Remains from his residence to the Church of the Assumption, Urlingford and after concelebrated Mass burial took place in the Mill Cemetery. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Phyllis, sons David and Michael, daughter Adrianne, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, a large circle of friends and neighbours. A lone piper played music on the way to the church.
DANCING - Social dancing in Urlingford Hall will take place on Tuesday, September 4. Music by Checkers. Supper will be served. All proceeds will go to Graine Development Association.

GRAINE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCATION - GDA will hold a public meeting on Monday, September 3 in the hall at 8pm. This will be our final meeting in the old hall. The purpose of the meeting is to let people know where we are at with regard to the development of the hall and our current financial position. MILL FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE - Horticulture Course: The Mill Family Resource Centre is holding an Information Morning on Thursday, September 13 at 10am. If you are interested in doing a Horticulture course, two mornings a week, Fetac Level 4, please come along and sign up. Empowering Parents Training Programme: Are you the parent of a disabled child, would you like to meet with a group in a similar situation and learn to be a more effective voice for your child? The Centre will host an Empowering parents training course in partnership with DESSA The programme will run over a 6 week period, one day a week and seeks to support Parents to acquire the knowledge and skills to effectively advocate on behalf of their child. The programme is suitable for parents of children under 12 who have any form of impairment. It is local and free of charge and will offer you information and advice which will help you see things differently and to find ways of getting what you and your child need. You will be with parents who are in a similar situation to you so there will be lots of opportunity for getting and giving real support. This programme will commence on September 28. FUNDRAISING 25s CARD GAME - Many thanks to all who supported our special 25’s card game at Urlingford Hall last Monday night. Congratulations to all prize winners. The proceeds on the night came to 1200 euro which has been handed over to Graine Development Association. Also thanks to the ladies from both Urlingford and Graine who provided refreshments on the night for all.

EMERALD’S - Congrats to Aidan Fogarty and Padraig Phelan on their All-Ireland (Senior and Intermediate) semi-final wins with Kilkenny. Also, well done to the clubs U14 team on a great first round championship win and to the junior camogie team who won all county semi-final, both played last Tuesday. All Ireland tickets: only paid up members can book tickets for the All-Ireland, so the club have agreed to allow anyone who has not joined this year a chance to pay up membership until August 28.
