GATHERING OF THE GAELS-Easter Sunday Night March 31st will see the a couple of hundred O’Loughlin Gaels members supporters and friends come together in their GAA Club for a sumptuous four course meal with dancing to The Marble City Sounds followed by a DJ set by DJ Seanie D. Tickets for the lavish banquet are still available from the Pork and Bacon Butchers emporium owned by John Joe Cullen in John Street, who is this week incidental celebrating 21 years in business. Indeed John Joe in his role as Social and Bar Committee Chairperson, along with his hard working committee, are doing Trojan work to insure that the night is a brilliant success. Tickets are a very reasonable €22.50 each and the night gets under way at 8.30 p.m.
TALES FROM THE ‘GAELS-Congratulations to CBS Primary Headmaster, Dennis O Reilly, who won the “Name the Newsletter Competition” run through this column and also through O’Loughlin’s facebook and twitter pages. Dennis’ winning entry is Tales from the ‘Gaels. The first edition of the newsletter will be distributed to three thousand houses in St. John’s Parish. It will also be handed out at mass in Johnswell and Dunmore churches. The editorial committee of Brendan O Leary, James Kelly, John Collins and Nigel Leydon have put together a very informative booklet that hopefully will only be the first of many more to come throughout the years.
It is hoped to have the very first few copies for perusal at The Gathering of The Gaels Dinner Dance on Easter Sunday Night.

Backboned by no less than eight O’Loughlin Gaels players, the CBS panel are already Leinster Champions having beaten St. Kierans College who have one sole O’Loughlin Gaels representative, Meadow Way man Shane Parsons. Hopefully ‘Kierans can join CBS in the final to make what would be the first All Kilkenny All Ireland Final.
U11s AND U12s FOLLOWED THE CATS TO CLARE-The O’Loughlin Gaels Under 11 and U12 teams travelled to Ennis Co. Clare last Sunday to, first of all, play Corofin GAA Club in two mighty challenge matches and then head to Ennis to watch Kilkenny play Clare in round four of the Allianz National League. The O’Loughlins boys were treated like Lords in Corofin and a big thank you goes to the Corofin GAA Ladies Committee who had prepared lovely scones, buns and sandwiches for the weary visitors. Thank you also to Joe Cahill of Corofin who is really a marvellous hurling man in Clare GAA . This is both teams second away trip already this year having previously followed Kilkenny to Galway where they played Sarsfields of Galway.
UNDER 8S WILL PLAY IN CROKE PARK-The very best of luck to the O’Loughlin Gaels Under 8 team who will travel to Croke Park and play a couple of matches as part of a Leinster GAA promotion. Good luck to manager Eoin Lawlor and his mentors and all the parents who will accompany the boys on the trip.
WEBSITE facebook TWITTER etc.etc-Keep upto date with all that is going on in O’Loughlin Gaels and St. John’s Parish by checking out www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie and the O’Loughlin Gaels facebook and twitter pages. O’LOUGHLIN GAELS LOTTO IS STILL €20,000-The O’Loughlin Gaels LOTTO jackpot was not won last week. The numbers drawn were 1,9,17,25 and the bonus was 27. It is hoped that someone will claim the top prize soon, not least by me, so I can write something else about the weekly draw ! Still the generous people on the clubs Lotto committee do give out €400 in consolation prizes every week as well as adding handsomely to the reserve Jackpots that have been built up over time and will be used as soon the current prizepool jackpots are won.
The ten consolation prizes of forty euro each last week were won by Teresa Walsh c/o Mxie Doran, Frances Walsh c/o Benny Walsh, John Bennett, M&E c/o Eddie Leahy, Antoinette Leydon, Tony Butler c/o Joan Kerwick, Annette Cummins c/o Bretts, Anthony Preston c/o Paul Cleere, Charlie Parsons c/o Eileen Kinchella, Richie Walsh .
