Happy 21st Birthday - Paul Buggy, Tullaroan Village celebrated his 21st. birthday with hisfamily and a large circle of friends at Connolly’s Lounge and afterwards at his home on Friday last. Paul is wished a speedy recovery from his recent hurling injury.
Golf Classic - This years Tullaroan Hurling CLub Golf Classic takes place in Rathdowney Golf Club onThursday 18th and Friday 19th July. Blood Donor CliniCQ - The Blood Donor Clinic will be in the Community Centre Freshford on Thursday June13th from 5 to 8pm.
Scrap Metal Collection - Anyone wishing to donate scrap metal to the Tullaroan hurling club are asked to please leave it into the sports field or contact any officer of the club.Collection can be organised.
Whist Drive - A whist drive will be held in the Tullaroan community centre on Friday 7th June commencing at 8.45pm.
Recently Deceased - The death of Mrs. Margaret Millea (nee Lee), Gaulstown, Tullaroan took place on 28th May at her residence. Margaret was wife of Pat and mother of Mary, Marguerite, Siobhán and David. She was a very respected lady within the Parish of Tullaroan and she endeared herself to all who knew her.
Margaret along with her many friends loved the games of bridge and whist which she played on a regular basis. She worked on the family farm in Gaulstown with her husband Pat and her son David. She was a great backup to Pat in his political career.
At her removal to the Church of The Assumption the local Fianna Fáil Cumann organised a guard of honour.
After Mass on Thursday concelebrated by Fr. P. Guilfoyle, Fr. Wallace, Fr. Murphy and Fr. Flavin her remains were taken to the Tullaroan cemetery for burial. A guard of honour was formed by the local County Councillors and Council Officials.
Margaret is also survived by her grandchildren, daughter in law Lorraine, son in law Padraic,sisters Marlyn and Eileen, brother in law Edward, nieces and nephews and a very large circle of friends.
Tullaroan Hurling Club - A D.V.D. which was compiled by the late Dan Grace and produced by Breda Grace was launched in Connolly’s Lounge on Saturday 1st June at 10pm. It features the presentation of medals to the under 16, Junior and Minor winners of the 1983 championship, the presentation of certificates to 1932, 1948 and 1958 county final winners. It also features the Sam Melbourne collection of medals along with interviews with the Jim Maher, Dan Hogan, Knockeenbawn, Sean Clohessy, Dick Teehan, Jack Egan and the late Tom Ryann. The pair of D.V.Ds will cost €15.00 and they run for three hour duration. The D.V.Ds can be purchased in Delaney’s, Connolly’s and any officer of the hurling club.
Camogie - The Tullaroan camogie club will be selling raffle cards for the Kilkenny County Camogie Board over the course of June and July. The draw will take place in August with excellent prizes to be won.
Tullaroan Water SchemE - Water lines will be turned off on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th June from 8pm to 12 midnight in order to flush out the lines. For further information please contact Chris Maher.
Tullaroan Heritage Centre - An E.G.M. will take place in the Tullaroan Community Centre on Thursday 13h June to discuss the future of the Heritage Centre. The meeting will commence at 8.30pm sharp and it is hoped that it will be well attended.
Tullaroan Active RetiremenT - The group will meet on Wednesday 5th June at 2pm in the Community Centre and all are welcome.
Mass in Ballinamara - Mass will be celebrated in Ballinamara Cemetery on Wednesday 5th Jue at 7.30pm (weather permitting).
Junior Hurling - Tullaroan junior hurling team went under to Kilmacow on Thursday evening last. They were beaten by the minimum margins where this young team put up a very good performance.
