PARISH CELEBRATION - To celebrate all we do as a parish and the ways in which we support one another and to mark the Silver Jubilee of Fr Ollie’s ordination there will be a Concelebrated Mass of Thanksgiving in the Church of the Assumption, Urlingford, on Saturday, 8th June at 7pm. Following Mass everyone is invited to The Ball in the Hall which will include craic, ceol, ol agus damhsa. Please come and join us for what promises to be a great night. And it’s free!! Calling all parishioners that are free between 2pm and 6pm on Friday, 7th June to help set tables etc and also on Saturday between 4pm and 6pm to take in donations of cakes for this special occasion.
DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY - Of St Vincent de Paul would like to thank the parishioners of Urlingford/Graine for their very generous donations in their recent collection. A total of E1,590 was raised.

SAFEGUARDING AUDIT IN THE DIOCESE OF OSSORY - At the invitation of Bishop Seamus Freeman, SAC, the National Board for Safeguarding Children, St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, Co Kildare, will carry out a safeguarding Audit in the Diocese of Ossory. The Audit will begin on Monday, 17th June. Bishop Freeman welcomes this visit to our diocese by staff from the National Board and ensures that the diocese will fully co-operate in making all safeguarding files available.
URLINGFORD TIDY TOWNS - Special thinks to those who have helped us in our clean-up over the last couple of weeks, as judging will commence in the next 10 days we would ask for volunteers to help us in our final clean-up before judging. Tuesday evening 7.30pm at the Old School. As you will see flowers have been planted around the town and we would ask that they be respected and we would ask of residents to help us in our efforts by displaying Hanging Baskets/Window Boxes etc. Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.
SHOW - Ossory Agricultural Show Society Co ltd held their AGM recently at the meeting rooms at Showgrounds. Show chairman Peter Ging welcomed everyone to the AGM and then declared meeting open. Show secretary Catherine Fitzgerald read minutes from last year’s AGM, signed and seconded, a good attendance. Then came the reporter from treasurer Irene Newman who gave a good finance report, PRO Margaret Campion gave a report and also Peter Ging. He said that last year’s show was a good success and entries were well up. Thanks to all. Show would not go on without the sponsors, secretary judges, stewards, vets, catering people, local radio, PRO’s etc. We would like to make a special welcome to the exhibition of Massy Ferguson and Ford tractors. Since last year’s show Richard Moynan passed away, deepest sympathy to his family. Also great sadness on the death of Mrs Murphy who was a loyal outstanding member of the show. GRAINE ICA - Proposed Summer Trip to Belfast will take place on July 6 and 7. The trip will include: A sightseeing tour of Belfast City and Environs, a visit to the Titanic Exhibit8ion at the Belfast Museum, a visit to a garden centre, shopping arcades and famous buildings. THE GATHERING - As part of The Gathering the parish of Graine and Urlingford are organizing a weekend of activities in August, full details to be finalised. One of these is to have an exhibition of photos in both Graine and Urlingford, which reflects the history of the Parish, and it’s people. We are looking for photos, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, photos of anyone who served in any of the wars or in the army. Any photos of Gardai, Priests or Doctors etc. If you do not want these photos to leave your home we can arrange for someone to call and copy them in your home.
