COMMUNITY GAMES ATHLETICS - Well done to all the children of the parish who took part in the Community Games Athletics on Saturday last in Scanlan Park. Special congratulations to Lee McCann and Shane Grace who took Gold and Silver in the boys U14 100m. Three bronze medals went to Conor O’Gorman in the boys U8 80m, Alan Dunphy in the boys U10 200m and Eoin Delaney in the boys U12 600m.
Eimear Walsh and Ashling Phelan picked up the silver and bronze medals in the Girls U14 Long Puck with Oisin Quirke taking the Gold and Eoin Kenny the bronze in the boys U12 Long Puck.
Thanks to Dorothea Bergin, Claire Houlihan, Jack Dunphy and Eoin Walsh who helped out on the day.
SUMMER CAMPS - Colaiste Mhuire summer camps now taking bookings. 1st - 3rd July, 10am - 2.00pm for 8 to 10 year olds - Let’s Get Crafting Kids Summer Camp. 15th - 17th July from 12.00 to 4.00pm for 11 - 13 year olds
AFTERNOON CLUB - The Afternoon Club trip to Dublin Zoo last Thursday, 30th May 2013 was a real sucess, thanks to all who organised it.
PILTOWN DRAW - The Hurlers Co-Op Draw (Piltown Tickets) are now on sale. Tickets are €50 and can be bought from any Lisdowney GAA Club committee member. The Kilkenny County Board is also extending the Hurlers Co-Op Draw online sales. In future, a person buying a Co-Op Draw ticket on the county website kilkennygaa.ie can designate the club they wish to support. By doing so, the nominated club will receive the same percentage as a normal sale by the club. The Hurlers Co-Op draw is an important source of revenue for the club and Lisdowney GAA Club is encouraging all members to buy a ticket.
UNDERAGE HURLING - Hurling for boys and girls from Under 6 up to Under 12 in Lisdowney GAA Club will continue every Saturday morning from 10 am to 11 am. All are welcome. Children must wear helmets and shin guards.
HURLING FIXTURES - Friday 7th June St Martin’s meet Lisdowney in the Duggan Steel Under 14 Hurling League in Coon at 7.30pm and then the Rower INisteoige on Monday 10th in Lisdowney.
JJ KAVANAGH & SONS JUNIOR HURLNG LEAGUE - Lisdowney face Mt. Leinstir Rangers in Lisdowney at 7.30pm on Friday 7th June.
JJ Kavanagh & Sons North J.A.H.L - After a lot of changes over the weekend, this game against the Emeralds was finally played on Monday 27th May in Lisdowney. With this 4-14 to 2-18 win, the Junior A’s have qualified for the league semi-final’s against the Fenians which is due to be played onTue 18th June. The team on the night lined out as 1:Eoin Walsh, 2:Jimmy Delaney, 3:Anthony O’Hara, 4:Brian O’Carroll, 5:Micheal Bergin, 6:Shane Clyne, 7:Eoin Lyons, 8:Eoin Delahunty, 9:Ciaran Bergin, 10:Niall Kenny, 11:Joe Bergin, 12:Edward Kenny, 13:Brian Campion, 14:Aaron Fogarty, 15; Conor O’Carroll. Subs used on the night were Paul Murphy, Jack Dunphy & Declan O’Shea.
Billy Ronan Memorial Tournament - Lisdowney qualified for the final of the Billy Ronan Memorial Tournament by beating Graigue Ballycallan 2-18 to 3-14 on Sat evening in Tom Ryall Park. Danesfort will play Lisdowney in the final after beating St. Patricks 1-14 to 2-10 in other semi-final.
LISDOWNEY GAA & CAMOGIE CLUB LOTTO - The numbers drawn in the Lisdowney GAA and Camogie Club Lotto on Monday, 20th May 2013, were 6, 19, 20 and 24. There was no winner. Match three winners were RosePhelan,Mick Carroll, John Doheny and Betty Lennon. Next week’s jackpot is €5,300. The draw will be held on Mon 10th June 2013, in Downey’s.

KILKENNY AGE FRIENDLY COUNTY PROGRAMME - Kilkenny Age Friendly County programme is available to provide “Ageing with Confidence” in your area. The eight weeks workshop is a personal development programme designed to help people over 55 explore their ageing process. The programme is run by two trained facilitators and looks at all aspects of ageing including physical, emotional and intellectual. The workshop is free of charge and is usually run at local community/parish centres. Enquires welcome from community centres/individuals and groups. LAST ROSE OF SUMMER - On Saturday, 22nd June 2013 at 8 pm in Jenkinstown Park, Kilkenny, Anthony Kearnswill perform, along with his usual repertoire, some Thomas Moore melodies such as The Minstrel Boy, Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms and, of course, The Last Rose of Summer, which was composed in Jenkinstown and first published in 1813. Some local talent will be showcased on the evening also. The concert will be in the original walled garden area, within Jenkinstown Woods. Parking will be in the field below the venue.
