The Battle of Le Pilly which took place in October 1914 during the First World war is the theme of the lecture at the Graignamanagh Historical Society’s October meeting which takes place at the library on Friday night October 18th.Guest speaker is the well known author and historian Mr. Michael Desmond On this the 99th anniversary of the battle there should be widespread interest as many local families had friend and relations who fought in that bitter war. Everyone is welacome and proceedings begin at 8 pm.
The Brass Band who are in the process of getting possession of a new range of instruments issue an invitation to all to attend their fund raising concert at Duiske Abbey on Friday 18th October The band will be joined by the St. Patricks Brass Band from Kilkenny and also appearing is the Kilkenny Pipe Band. It promises to be a wonderful musical occasion and believe it or not there is no admission price. A collection will be located strategically for the benefit of everyone wishing to subscribe to this very worthy cause The concert begins at 8pm.
Last weeks numbers were 9,13, 23 &32. There was no winner of the £10,000 jackpot. Consolation winners were Denis Sheehy, Jamie O’Brien, Marie Keating, Johnny Meadows and Valerie Ryan. The reserve jackpot which kicks in when the major jackpot is won is now worth £4,000
