GAA - The Joe Prendergast Memorial Tournament took place on Sunday 22nd July in Grennan. The outstanding organisation of a great day’s hurling was a fitting tribute to a man who did so much for the GAA Club in Thomastown. Teams from Clarinbridge in Galway, Sarsfields in Cork, Mount Sion in Waterford, Edenderry in Offaly and local teams Ballyhale, Clara, Dicksboro and, of course, Thomastown Under 12’s played their hearts out all day. Despite their best efforts Thomastown were unsuccessful. Dicksboro won the Tournament and player of the day was Mark Kennedy from Clarinbridge - one to watch! Thomastown received invitations from the visitors for return matches which will surely be accepted with alacrity, not to mention enthusiasm!
