Calendar - You are reminded that GRD will produce a calendar for 2013. You are invited to submit photographs of a person, place or thing taken in the Goresbridge area. You can leave them in on a disk to Goresbridge Rural Development as soon as possible. The photographs will be judged by photographer, Roger Jones and it is hoped that more people will enter the competition this year, lots of people have fabulous photos, you just need to take a few minutes to save them on a disk and drop them into Breda in GRD. If you are not sure about saving them on a disk, drop into Breda with your camera. If you intend entering photos please do so before October 15 at the latest. The calendar was a great success last year and it is nice to flick over to a new month and know that the photograph is of Goresbridge, the calendar has found itself in Australia, Brazil, Wales, England, America and lots of other places so if you have a photo that you think is good enough to go on the calendar, drop it in to GR D in Barrack St or give it to Colette Murphy.

SNATCHED AWAY - Barrow Rangers under 14 hurlers had the County Final snatched from them by Ballyhale Shamrocks in Nowlan Park last Saturday. After a very shaky and nervous start when they conceded a very early goal and a point they settled down and played themselves into the game. By half time they were ahead by a point 1-4 to 1-3. The second half was again a very keenly contested affair with both sides swapping scores. With three minutes remaining Barrow Rangers lead by a point but disaster struck when the lads from the South scored a goal. In the three minutes of added time they knocked over two more points as our lads chased the game. The final score was Barrow Rangers 1-11 to Ballyhale Shamrocks 3-9.
FAILED TO PUT THE SCORES ON THE BOARD - In the Minor 7 a side County Camogie Final last Saturday morning in Thomastown the Paulstown/Goresbridge girls had most of the early possession over their opponents Ballyhale Shamrocks but failed to put the scores on the scoreboard. The Ballyhale girls didn’t make the same mistake and made the most of their chances and led at halftime 2-3 to 1-2. Our girls played their way back into it in the second half but the concession of goals proved costly and they eventually lost by 2 goals, 5-5 to 3-5.
