Minors lose in Semi final- St Martin Minor Hurlers lost to Glenmore in the County Semi Final in Bennetsbridge last Saturday 29th September. In fairness they were a much older and stronger team. St Martins never gave up in difficult circumstances but can look back at a year of progress despite the loss and can look forward to the minor football league final as some consolation.

U10 travel to Gowran blitz - Last Saturday 22nd September our under 10 hurling panel travelled to Gowran where they competed in the Young Irelands under10 tournament.The boys had three games in which they won two. The first against Bennetsbridge which was a thrilling match to watch. The second match was against Graig-Ballycallan. The boys fought very hard in this game coming out the victors at the final whistle. Our last game was against our Hosts Young Irelands. The boys were starting to tire in this game but they put up a commanding performance which resulted in a draw upon the final whistle.The boys had three super games that day doing the club proud.
St Martin’s win U12 Dowling Perpetual Cup - On a glorious sunny day the inaugural Dowling Perpetual Cup was won by the home side who defeated a gallant Carrickshock side. The cup was presented to St Martin’s Bord na nOg by Tom & Marie Dowling , for an annual U12 tournament. Both sides gave a whole hearted display of hurling in a very evenly contested final. Shane Brennan, came to the rescue of the home side on a number of occasions as he gave another consistent performance in the goal. The backline of Robert Dowling, Liam Brennan, Colm Kealy, Dan Doyle, Adam Agar and Daniel Comerford were very solid and cleared an ocean of ball all through the match.In midfield, Donal Coughlan and Justin Manning were strong and kept the ball moving to the forward line. Those forwards, Oscar Bennet, Harry Kealy, John Murphy, Ronan Shore, Darragh Coughlan and Daragh Quinlan took their scores when the chances came and harried and blocked the opposing backs in a great team effort. During the course of the game, Tommy Butler, Andrew Buggy, Daragh O’Shea, Conor Mulhall, Jack Murphy, Paul Murphy, Marcus Smith, Robyn Smith, James Carrigan and Willem Smith all played their part as the full panel played their hearts out to keep the Dowling Cup at home by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 2-6 to 2-5. Tom Dowling then presented the cup to the winning team and also presented hurling grips to both sets of players. Thanks to John Ryan for refereeing the match. After the match everyone returned to the hall in Coon where refreshments were enjoyed by players and parents alike
Fashion Show - Muckalee Community Centre will hold an Autumn/Winter fashion show on Wednesday, 17th October in Newpark Hotel at 8.30pm. Compere on the night will be Faith Amond and admission fee €10.
Foroige - Registration night on Thursday 4th October at 8pm. Existing and new members welcome. Additional leaders are also needed. Parents must attend on registration night for acceptance of young person’s membership. Congratulations to Thomas Breen who was part of the panel of Senior Kilkenny hurlers who brought home the Liam McCarthy Cup to Kilkenny last Sunday.
Camogie - Hard luck to St. Martin’s minor camogie team who were defeated by Piltown in the County final on Saturday last. The runners up were presented by a set of medals sponsored by Dick Dooley and a beautiful cup by Mick Brennan(cloney).
U-14 GIRLS WIN - Muckalee girls U-14 footballers had a good win against Freshford on Saturday last in Freshford. Playing against the wind and hill in the first half the score was level at half time with both sides at 2—1 each. Muckalee girls took over complete control in the second half and held Freshford scoreless while adding 7---3 on to their own score. Some great displays were given by many girls as they continue to improve their footballing skills.
