CHRISTMAS DAY WALK/SWIM - The 20th Sponsored Christmas Day Swim/Walk will take place in Bagenalstown in aid of Carlow/Kilkenny Home Care Team. The swim will start at 12 noon and walkers at 11.30am from the picnic tables around the Green Road, arriving back in time to watch the Swim at the steps outside the pool. Safety First. As it is the 20th swim in aid of Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team in memory of the late Vera Power the Power family has donated a bench to mark the 20th Swim and it will be unveiled on Christmas morning after the swim. WATER SAFETY WEEK - Presentation of certificates for Irish Water Safety Week in Bagenalstown Swimming Pool was held in the Estoria Restaurant, Main Street, on Friday, November 9. Congratulations to all who received their certs in safety, rescue challenge and pool lifeguard. Over 200 certs were awarded in all grades. It was a first for Pool Lifeguard as the river was in flood and two new instructors, William Byrne and Rebecca Kinsella. Both have trained for three years at the pool and swimming lessons. THANKS TO LOCAL FIRE BRIGADE - The 2nd Carlow Scout Group would like to thank the local fire crew for their kind donation to the group. The boys collected for local charities in the area and Sub Officer Mick Salter presented the money to Group Leader Carol Clarke on behalf of all in the fire station.

CAROL SERVICE - There will be a Carol Service in St Andrew’s Church. Bagenalstown on Thursday December 13 at 8pm,featuring the St Andrew’s Men’s Choir with St Patricks Brass Band. Admission is free and there will be a voluntary collection on the night for local charities.
VISIONARY TO VISIT BAGENALSTOWN - Geraldine, an Irish born mother and visionary who lives in Australia has received messages for the world from Jesus and Mary as she had an “out of body” experience while undergoing surgery in Sydney. NEW INITIATIVE - Bagenalstown Family Resource Centre is rolling out a new initiative; the Men’s Shed kick starts on Friday January 11 at 10.30am so the Centre is calling on all men to get involved, take ownership of the activities and programmes you get involved with. The new Shed is in the process of being erected so all the men out there will have their own space to kick back, have a laugh, a chat, a cuppa and whatever other activities they decide to get behind!
