Commiserations to Eoin Lyons, Kevin Sweeney, Jack Dunphy and Paul Coss who were on the Colaiste Mhuire senior panel that narrowly lost to Rathdowney in a match that drew in the dying seconds of injury time and remained a thriller right through injury team. Final score 18 points to 1:12 to Rathdowney.

JUVENILE BADMINTON - Juvenile badminton continues on Friday nights in hall. Time is changed back to original 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

SENIOR BADMINTON - Congratulations to both the ladies and men’s teams who secured their first victories in the Kilkenny league to date.

Ladies team of Noreen Kenny, Gillian Rea and aine Mackey who defeated Carlow lawn tennis club 6 - 2.

Men’s team results: Brian Lyons, John holohan and Daragh Mackey were narrowly defeated 5-4 by Abbeyleix last week. This was a very tight match which could have gone anyway.

And on Friday last Brian Lyons, John Holohan and Liam Dunphy had a great win against the favourites Carlow YM. They won 5-4. Congratulations to all.

SINCERE SYMPATHIES - The parish extends sincere sympathies to the family of Morgan Cashin from Durrow who passed away on Sunday last.

WIN €500 - Lisdowney GAA Club has launched its Sports Prophet fundraiser for 2013. Application forms are available from Club PRO and Sports Prophet Organiser, Graham O’Shea, any committee member, Mackeys and Downeys Bars and can be downloaded from the Lisdowney Gaa website Entry is Just €20, with the winner taking home €500!

TREES NEEDED - Trees are urgently required as part of firewood fundraising activities for the hurling club. This is one of the main club fundraisers, but they are running low in timber. Please contact Stephen on 086 2770217. Timber Cutters also needed on Tuesday nights.

WALKING GROUP - A group of potential Mini Marathoners are meeting on a regular basis to walk leaving from Clontubrid Car park on Monday and Thursday mornings at 9.00am then Tuesday and Friday evening at 6.30pm. Please call 086 1985251 and let us know what times would suit you, if you wish to walk with us but the times dont suit. The Parent’s Council of Scoil Naomh Fiachra are looking for volunteers to do the mini Marathon in June, but this walking is open to all people who would like to get together and walk. In a few weeks we will start the Couch to 5K programme for those who wish to do it.

COMMUNITY GAMES ART- The theme for the children’s Art competition this year was exercise, so as well as drawing and colouring sport related pictures, the children also learned a little about the importance of exercise as they were put through a rigorous warm up routine by Theresa McGinn, Chartered Physiotherapist

ADORATION - Adoration will be held every Friday in Lent from 7 pm in Lisdowney Church, followed by Mass at 7.30 pm.

LISDOWNEY PASTORAL COUNCIL - Nominations are being sought to fill vacancies on Lisdowney Pastoral Council. Nomination papers can be left in the boxes at the back of the three churches next weekend.

SCOIL NAOMH FIACHRA ENROLMENT - Anyone wishing to enrol children in Scoil Naomh Fiachra, Clontubrid, for September 2013 can now do so by contacting the school.

ADULT COURSES AT COLAISTE MHUIRE - The Home School Community Liaison Service at Colaiste Mhuire are offering three courses free of charge - A practical cookery course on Thursdays from 12.30 - 2.30 pm starting on the 21st February 2013, an Internet Safety course on Wednesdays from 10 am - 12 noon starting on the 27th February 2013, and a Parents Plus course on Tuesdays from 10 am - 11.30 pm, starting on the 19th February 2013. LISDOWNEY GAA AND CAMOGIE CLUB LOTTO - The numbers drawn in the Lisdowney GAA and Camogie Club Lotto on Monday, 29th January 2013, were 3, 9, 14 and 26 Match three winners were Eoin Sherman and Breda Phelan. Annual club lotto tickets are currently on sale. The annual ticket for €100 enters you into 52 weekly draws. Weekly tickets are just €2 and are available from Hogans’, McGraths’, Bradleys’Butchers and the Credit Union in Ballyragget, O’Carroll’s Pharmacy and Micheal Bergin’s in Freshford, Mackeys’ in Gathbawn, Carmel’s in Lisdowney and from any committee member.
