On Tuesday, February 5, Mrs Margaret Garrett of Dublin Road, Johnstown passed away in St. Lukes Hospital Kilkenny, following a very short illness.
She was daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Quinlan, Foulkscourt, Johnstown. Over the past 35 years Margaret worked along with Sr. Eileen, Sr. Maria, Sr. Catherine and her niece Margaret in Johnstown Community Pre-School and was school manager for over 20 years. She was a founding member of the local Brownies back in the 1980s where she was known to all as Brown Owl. She led a very full and active life, playing badminton for Johnstown and being involved in Community Concern. She was also on the committee of St Kieran’s Community Hall. Her main love though was dancing and she would travel weekly to social dances with her husband Bobby where they made many great friends. At her removal from Doyle’s Funeral home many hundreds turned up to say their goodbyes.
Margaret is survived by her husband Bobby; daughter Susan; son Michael; grandchildren Katie, Adam, Elijah and Juliet. She is also survived by her brothers Martin, Joe, Liam, Toddy and Anthony and by her sisters Bridget, Kathleen, Molly, Lilly, Imelda and Ann.
