Ballyragget - St Patrick’s drive on with M&A

Sponsorship - M&A Coaches have announced a new 3 year sponsorship deal with St Patricks GAA club. M&A Coaches have been involved in the club for 20 years and their logo will once again feature on the team’s intermediate jerseys.

Furthermore they plan to erect a new score-board in the St Patricks headquarters which will be of great benefit to all spectators. M&A shall continue to be active in supporting the Bord Na Og section of the club and will help continue the great work that has been done over the last number of years. They will also continue with our help and support to the schools of the county that see them involved with St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny College and Castlecomer Community School among others.

BOOK CLUB - The book for next month’s is The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes. The Book Club will meet on Tuesday 5th March 2013 in the Hogan Stand and new members are always welcome.

BOOKS NEEDED - The Parents` Council of Scoil Bhríde is requesting a donation of books for the school library. We would appreciate donations of good quality books, fiction and non-fiction, suitable for 4 to 12 year Olds. The books can be dropped into the school from Monday February 25th to Friday March 1st. Many thanks for your continued support.

 FAMILY RESEARCH - Help! I have been researching an Irish family. I have a manuscript excerpt written by Mrs. Laura Griffith (nee Smyth) about a family named Bruton that lived in Ballyragget around the turn of the 1800’s.I would like to have evidence that this is a fact. Is there anyone in Ballyragget who can confirm this as a fact? It would be helpful to me in my research. Thank you for any reply. Chris Burningham

SCOIL NAOMH BHRIDE ENROLMENT - Scoil Naomh Bhride, Ballyragget are now accepting applications for the 2013 – 2014 School Year. Forms con be obtained from the school office or by contacting the secretary on 056 -8833606. Enrolment forms should be returned to the school by 22nd March 2013.

BALLYRAGGET COMMUNITY PLAYGROUP - There are still a few places available in our Playgroup and Montessori for Free Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme (ecce) starting in September 2013. The ecce scheme provides a free year of early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age. In general children are eligible for free ecce scheme if they are aged three years and two months and less than four years seven months on the 1st September of the year that the child will be starting playgroup – if you wish for your child to avail of the free scheme please contact the playgroup on 056 – 8830119 or 086 – 846867 or email to book a place or call and view our purpose built facility in Chapel Avenue anytime during open hours - 9am to 12 noon and 12.30 to 3.30 daily Monday to Friday.

SCOIL CHIARAIN ENROLMENT 2013-2014 - Scoil Chiaráin is now accepting enrolments for 2013-2014 for pupils starting in second class in August/September. NAOMH BRID CAMOGIE CLUB - There was a fine attendance at the GAA club house, on Wednesday last, February 13th for the Naomh Brid registration night. All girls, who wish to train and play with the club in 2013, must be registered before they may participate. The club’s officials appreciated the help of the parents, who had their forms completed on arrival. There is no increase in the membership fees for 2013 and family rates also apply. If any players are not yet registered they should oblige, by this week end.  BORD NA NOG - St. Patrick’s GAA underage/Bord na NOg club registration February 13th 7-9pm, GAA clubhouse. Brookville lost by two goals to a very strong and organized Clifden on Sunday last. Brookville had a few chances but its fair to say that the better team won on the day.

ERINS OWN GAELIC FOOTBALL - Erins Own Girls Gaelic football Club was established in 2012.We are looking for all those girls aged 7 to 8 ,U10 & U14 who are interested in playing Gaelic football in 2013. We are also taking expressions of interest from girls born in years 1995 & 1996 to form an U18/Minor team. Note. If your town or village doesn’t offer girls Gaelic football the girls are then eligible to play in Castlecomer until those towns or villages form football teams.

All new players will be made to feel very welcome.

Sunday 24th February – We are all invited to take part in a walk of Remembrance and Faith - after 10am Mass in Ballyragget we will journey together to St. Finnan’s Cemetery where we will take some time to remember those who have gone before us on their journey of Faith. At 12 noon on that day the Ballyouskill community will gather at the graves in the church grounds for a similar service – this is all part of our Lenten year of Faith programme. We are all entrusted and challenged to be people of Faith and sharers of the Faith with others.

Ash Wednesday – Lent began on Wednesday 13th February and the local group of parishes are inviting the people from the area to come to a Lectio Divena celebration in Castlecomer Hall on the four Thursday nights of Lent beginning 21st February at 7.30pm.

Ballyragget Pastoral Council – The Pastoral Council are proposing to hold a short Prayer Service with the Blessed Sacrament in different houses around the parish during Lent. Anyone who is willing to have one of these services in their home please give your name to Fr. Murphy as soon as possible.

A collection on behalf of Peace in Christ Retreat House will take place in the church grounds next weekend

New Eucharistic Ministers – a programme of preparation for new Ministers of the Eucharist will take place in the Canon Malone Hall on Monday 25th February and Monday 4th March from 7.30pm to 8.45pm – see poster in church porch.

Eucharistic Adoration in the O’Gorman Home Oratory every Tuesday morning 10am – 12 noon. Please come along and spend some time in the Presence of God.
