MULLINAVAT GAA - In last week’s column I had Mullinavat taking on Rower Inistioge. This was an error on my part as their opponents were Tullogher Rosbercon on last Friday night in Slieverue. The Rod Iron men had a good day at the office and came away with a victory on a score line of Mullinavat 1-14 to Tullogher 2-9. So a very good start to the season and indeed it is Rower they take on in the next round. Thye under 14 hurlers had a draw with Conahy Shamrocks both teams scoring 3-8 each.
The minor hurlers played hosts to The Harps last Tuesday evening and snatched a draw from defeat when scoring a late goal from a free. Impressive on the night were Conor Frisby on the goal Mickie Jones at Full Back and Brian Phelan in the half line. Conor Duggan was very effective when changed to half back in the middle of the second half while up front Adam Mansfield scored some lovely points. County minor John Walsh done most of the scoring for the Vat lads and he converted two second half frees to The Harps net to ensure a share of the spoils. Final score Mullinavat 2-13 Harps 3-10.
The club would like to wish John the very best next Saturday when hopefully he will line out in the Leinester minor championship against Wexford in Nowlan Park. Having scored 1-4 against Laois in their first game we will be hoping for a repeat performance against the Wexford lads.
