Canon Kearn’s Park in Castlecomer was the fitting venue for the eagerly anticipated U21 Quarter final between O’Loughlin Gaels and St Lachtains of Freshford on Saturday last. It was a pulsating affair with as many twists and turns as a Hitchcock thriller.

O’Loughlin Gaels now play St. Patricks ,Ballyragget next Saturday at 2 p.m. in Freshford in the Northern Semi Final.


O’Loughlin Gaels had a great win over Young Irelands in the U-21 Rionn B Camogie County Final last Saturday in Bennettsbridge. The girls were ahead at halftime 1-4 to 0-3, with Amy Bryan scoring the goal and points coming from Laura Murphy(2), Karen Cleere and Bronagh Cleere. The City ladies put on a brilliant second half performance, showing great team work, skill, and composure. In the second half the they scored 2-4 with goals coming from Laura Murphy and Bronagh Cleere and points from Amy Bryan and Laura Murphy. Team Megan O’Keeffe, Chloe Tyrrell, Laura Butler, Kate Nolan, Niamh Phelan, Sam Mguni, Grainne Walsh, Ena Kearns, Laura Greene, Saoirse Claffey, Laura Murphy(1-4), Karen Cleere(0-2), Amy Bryan(1-1) Bronagh Cleere(1-1), Kate Walsh, Danielle Randle, Aoife McKiernan, Sinead Ryan. Well Done to the team and Management of Gerry Buckley, Sheamie Cummins and Richie Delaney.


An awards night for the three O’Loughlin Gaels Under 14 teams will take place in the Club on Friday November 22nd at 8.30 p.m.The Club fielded an amazing three teams at Under 14 level and all teams will be recognised. Medals will also be given out to the successful Under 14 Roinn A League and Championship winning side as well as the Roinn A football League and of course the Paddy Grace Feile na nGael champions.


The Annual General Meeting of O’Loughlin Gaels GAA Club for 2013 will take place on Wednesday December 11th at 7.30 p.m.Nomination papers have been sent out by secretary Margaret Hanlon. Please return completed forms to Margaret by the due date.

Even though the O’Loughlin Gaels Lotto paid out €16,000 just three weeks ago the jackpot is still a massive €20,000. Tickets cost just €2 and are available all over Kilkenny City or indeed from most Club members. The annual Sharing Fair Crafts Sale and Coffee Morning will take place on 23rd November next in Langton’s of John Street, Kilkenny from 10am-1pm. On sale will be bags, cards, silk scarves, educational toys, home accessories and Christmas gifts. The crafts are made by people living in poverty in Thailand who work in income-generating projects established by Inistioge nun Sr Mary Hayden. All the proceeds from the sales are returned directly to support the projects.


The Fen Men, a gathering for men of all ages, meet every Monday night in the Newpark Close Family Resource Centre at 8pm. Activities include Bocca, Card playing, Cycling, organised trips e.g. to Altamount Gardens and Croke Park Museum, etc.So if you are bored during these long winter nights, why not turn up on Monday nights at 8pm and make new friends and pursue new hobbies?

The A.G.M. of the Fen Men was held on 4th November. Officers elected were Chairman Liam Lanigan, Vice-Chairman Jimmy Byrne, Secretary Frank Cody, Treasurer Jim Byrne, P.R.O. Jim Fogarty. Other Committee Members are John Cleere, Sammy Kirwan, Eamonn Byrne, Maurice Ryan and Brendan White.

Once again we are delighted to provide a new edition of our Parish Christmas Card. This Year it features Ariel Views of our three Parish Church’s and a new internal Photo of our Parish Church. The cost remains the same as other years, €5 for a pack of 6. They will be available at all masses next weekend and at any time in the Sacristy and Presbytery during office hours.


A Christmas Craft Fair will take place in Mother of Fair Love School on 23rd & 24th November between 10.00-6.00 each day, tea & coffee served and raffle prizes. Everybody Welcome


Dunmore Annual Bake/Cake sale will take place after 11am mass on Sunday 1st December. All Donations towards raffle and cake sale are greatly appreciated and can be dropped in the hall before mass please. All are welcome .
