The first of several Tidy Towns workshops in County Kilkenny will take place this weekend.
The event run by Kilkenny County Council is aimed at groups who are thinking of entering the competition for the first time or groups who have recently started entering the competition. Funded by the Local Agenda 21 Environment Partnership Fund, a workshop will take place in the Bennettsbridge Community Centre on this Saturday at noon.
This workshop led by a national Tidy Towns adjudicator will explain the competition categories, how a group should get started, how to get support from the local community and give tips on how to best present the local area on the competition submission form to maximise competition scores.
Following on from the workshop, national Tidy Towns adjudicator Pat Nolan will visit Goresbridge on April 17, Johnstown on April 19 and Fiddown on April 24 to meet groups and walk around each location with Pat pointing out different features of each location and discuss ideas and projects groups might have for their areas.
All Tidy Towns groups are welcomed to attend as Pat will be providing advice to all groups entering the competition.
Anyone wishing to attend any of the events can contact environmental awareness officer Bernadette Moloney on 056-7794470.
