Visitors - On a brief visit to Johnstown last week was John Piggott and his wife Wendy all the way from Melbourne Australia. John is the grandson of a member of the Garrett Family who lived on Main St and this was his first visit to Ireland. His father the late Pat Piggott visited Johnstown several times. John was very impressed with the village and he also visited the beautiful picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in St Kierans Church. This picture was presented to the Church in the early 1900s by John’s great grandparents Mr and Mrs Garrett who were teachers in Johnstown National School. The couple return to Australia this week.
Colaiste Mhuire - Night Classes for the Autumn on offer in Colaiste Mhuire are Welding ARC, Welding Tig Mig, Baking and Cake Decoration, Yoga, Pilates, Aerobics, Occupational First Aid, Digital Photography, Art, Gardening Landscaping and planning a garden. Enrolment at the school Tuesday Sept 18th from 7.30 to 8.30.

Whist Drive - A whist drive will be held in St Mary’s Hall on Friday Sept 14th. First game 8.30pm.
Set Dancing classes - Classes will commence in Crosspatrick Hall on Tues Sept 11th and will continue each week for the coming months. Classes 9 to 11. Beginners or anyone interested will be most welcome.
Parent and toddler group - The Urlingford Parent and Toddler Group re opens on Wed Sept 12th from 10am to 12 noon at Urlingford Childcare Centre, St Kieran’s Place, Urlingford.
St Anne’s Camogie Club - Good news comes from St Anne’s Camogie Club with four players on the successful U16 Leinster Camogie Team 2012. The club was represented by Sarah Whelan, Chloe Purcell, Niamh Sweeney and Mary Corcoran. Congrats to the management team of Paddy Kelly Dicksboro and T.J. Bryan of OLoughlins for the training and confidence given to this young panel. The team representing Kilkenny beat Offaly in St Brendans Park, Birr. Final score Kilkenny 0.13 Offaly 2.5. A younger set were successful in the U 15 Developement Team. Players from St Anne’s included Aoife Sweeney, Lauren Stanley, Rachel Dermody ,Allison Muldowney and Ellen Fitzpatrick. Congrats also to the U12 team and their trainer Orlaith Curran who beat Mooncoin in the League Final. The U12 team are...
