UNDER 14 CAMOGIE- On Friday last, the long awaited Under 14 camogie County Final between Lisdowney and Slieverue took place. The first ten minutes of the match were very intense and exciting. The play was fairly level. Lisdowney stayed well in the game until half time with some fantastic defensive play and goalkeeping from the Lisdowney team, who were down 1:1 to 3:2 at half time. Slieverue came out fighting after the break but only managed one early goal despite several attacks as the Lisdowney defence fought tooth and nail to keep them out. Before the end though, the much stronger Slieverue got several points and another goal. Full time score 5:7 to 1:1. Every final deserves a man/woman of the match and for me (T. Dunphy) this was undoubtedly Emma McEvoy, who saved a staggering 11 shots on goal, and this was not a reflection of poor defence as the girls in the backs staved off an incredible number of attacks. Well done girls- to each and every one of you. Lisdowney: Emma McEvoy, Rhea Grace Cashin, Ashling Phelan, Ellen O’Carroll, Aoibheann Murphy, Eimear Walsh 1:0, Chloe Mullins, Claire O’Carroll, Holly Moore, Eimear Kenny, Aoife O’Carroll 0:1, Laura O’Sullivan, Amy Dunphy, Rosemary Brennan and Mairead Kennedy. Subs: Ciara Doyle, Tessa Doyle, Ruth Campion, Ashling Phelan and Aoife Jordan. For a full match report, please log onto the Lisdowney GAA website

UNDER 14 HURLING - The Under 14 Shield Hurling Championship game versus Slievrue took place in Lisdowney last week. They finished up winning well on a score of 5:9 to 2:8.
