Whist - The Killermogh Parishes are holding their next monthly Whist Drive in the Parocial Hall, Cork Road, Durrow on Thursday night November 22 at 8.30 pm. All are welcome. All proceeds from this whist drive will be donated to the Make Believers.
Christmas Gala - Cullohill/Durrow Flower and Garden club are holding their Christmas Gala on Monday November 26 at 8 pm in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow with Sandra Finnegan AOIFE as demonstrator. Admission 10 euro which include Mulled Wine and Mince Pies. All welcome.
Lotto - The parish lotto with a jackpot of 4,00 euro was not won on November 13, small winners were 30 euro Lil O’Brien 25 euro Helen Mooney and 20 euro Mick Tynan The lotto of November 26 will be held in Peadar’s Bar with a possible jackpot of 4,300 euro. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
Stars in your eyes - Some of the world’s greatest superstars will take to the stage of the Castle Arms Hotel on Saturday November 24 for the annual “Stars in your eyes” Concert. With doors opening at 8.30 pm and the show starting at 9 pm sharp ,a superb night entertainment is guaranteed. Adm is 10 euro. Please note that in line with Licensing Laws this is strictly over 18 years old.
Monies raise from this event will fund the planting of daffodils and hedging on the Cork and Kilkenny Roads into Durrow.
Durrow I . F. A. - Durrow IFA will hold their Annual General Meeting in the Presentation Centre on Tuesday November 20 at 8 pm sharp. Guest speaker on the night will be Peter Lutterell, Beef Chairman for Laois. All members are asked to attend as the annual general meeting is the most important meeting of the year.
Christmas lights and Crib - Durrow Development Forum are delighted to announce that this year a Crib will be present in the Square for the festive season. The blessing of the Crib, and the turning on of the Christmas lights as well as a carol service will be held in the square at 7 pm on Friday night December 7. all are welcome. Donation boxes for the Christmas lights will be in all shops in the town in the coming week, your donation would be much appreciated.
Work on erecting the Christmas lights will begin soon and anyone who has time to spare and is willing to help please contact the Durrow Development Forum.
Pride of Place - Durrow Development Forum would like to thank most sincerely all those who assisted with Durrow’s entry in Pride of Place 2012. Durrow was competing in the “Previous Winners” category which was won by Westport, Co. Mayo. Although we were unsuccessful with our entry ,our involvement in the competition was a very worthwhile community project. Well done to all involved.
Planting - With the Cork Road finished planted with daffodils, work now commences on the Kilkenny Road. With loads of daffodil’s to be planted we are looking for anyone with some time to spare to come along and assist in planting these bulbs. This work will reap great rewards in the spring when these roads into Durrow will have a “Host of Golden Daffodil’s”.
