Tullaroan Hurling Club - On Sunday 17th February from 9am to 11.15am the hurling club will be hosting an open breakfast as part of a fundraiser for the club. This is a new venture for the club and it is hoped that all parishioners will come and enjoy their breakfast
Bord na nOg - The AGM of Tullaroan Bord na nÓg took place on Friday in the Community Centre to a great attendance. Chairman Simon Walton welcomed everyone and remarked on what was a wonderful year for the club. U-8s played in Croke Park with the u-10s winning the Pat Molloy Tournament. Thanks again went to the Molloy Family for the sponsorship of the tournament. Well done to Ms Holmes and the Primary Schools who won the Roinn D 11 - a side championship. The U-14s won the shield final against Mooncoin after extra time. The u-16s won the Roinn B Championship Final in an exciting game against Conahy Shamrocks. They also reached the final of the League but narrowly missed out to Freshford. This was their only lost of the year. The Minors had a terrific year winning the Roinn C Hurling Championship and League Finals. They also reached both finals in Football. Simon congratulated Tommy Walsh Village on being a member of the Kilkenny U-14 Tony Forristal Team, Martin Keoghan on the Sonny Liston team, Shane Walsh and Jack Keoghan on the u-16 team.Thanks to all the Managers, Trainers, Selectors and First Aid. Also thanks to John and Joan Connolly and Dick Walsh Kilkenny Hotel. Treasuer of the club James Moore gave a detailed acount of the balance sheet. Best Wishes - Mrs. Kitty Walsh and Mrs. Lily Ronan, Oldtown who are recuperating in St. Columba’s Hospital, Thomastown are wished a speedy recovery.
Whist Drive - A whist drive will be held in the community centre on Wednesday 31st January commencing at 8.30pm. The proceeds will go to Parish funds.
Fine Gael Annual General Meeting - The Tullaroan Cumann Fine Gael held their annual general meeting in the Tullaroan Community Centre on Friday 18th January with chairman Liam Byrne presiding. In attendance were Phil Hogan, Minister of Environment and Local Government and Tom Maher member of Kilkenny County Council. Minister Hogan welcomed the funding allocated for Prague House, Freshford and for St. Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny. Tributes were paid to the late John O’Neill who passed away during 2012, by Mr. Hogan, Tom Maher, Liam Byrne and Dan Hogan. Officers elected: Presidents- Mai Hogan and Dan Hogan; Vice Presidents- Maura Hogan and John Keoghan; Chairman- Liam Byrne; Vice Chairman- Ger Hogan; Secretary- Pat Walsh; Joint Treasure’s Michael Byrne and Dan Hogan; Branch Organisers - Pat Brennan and Tommy Breen; P.R.O. Pat Walsh. Membership is due by 25th February.
St. Vincent de Paul Society - A second collection will be taken up after Masses in the Church of The Assumption this weekend.

Recently Deceased - The death took place recently in Prague House, Freshford, Co. Kilkenny of Ms. Maureen Brennan, Tullaroan Village. For many years Maureen was post mistress at the local post office until her retirement. She had spent the past fourteen years in the loving care of St. Bridget and staff at Prague House where she passed away peacefully. She is survived by nephew’s, nephew’s, grand nieces, grand nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.
