70th Birthday - Congratulations to Maggie Jordan who celebrated her 70th birthday last weekend. Maggie along with a large crowd of family and friends celebrated in the clubhouse at Tom Walsh Park and danced the night away with music provided by two of a kind. Maggie has been a great supporter of the Blacks and Whites over the years and im sure will continue to be for many years to come. Best wishes Maggie!
Intermediate Football - The Blacks and Whites intermediate footballers bowed out of the football championship at the semi-final stage after being defeated by St Patrick’s Ballyraggett on Saturday last. The lads trailed by 2-4 to 0-3 at the break after weathering an early Ballyraggett storm. However they were unlucky not to be closer at half time due to some poor finishing and handling errors. A push on in the second half did not yield any great dividend and a stronger and hungrier Ballyragget side ran out deserved winners in the end on a scoreline of 2-8 to 0-3.
Junior Hurling - Blacks and Whites junior hurlers got their all county league campaign of to the best possible start when they defeated Carlow outfit Naomh Brid in Tom Walsh Park last Sunday. Three goals from Peter Chap Cleere, John Lennon and Jamie Byrne proved the difference as the home side won out by 3-8 to 0-10. The lads now face Piltown this Sunday at 2pm in Piltown.
Juvenile Camogie Club - Following a meeting in Tom Walsh Park recently of Blacks & Whites juvenile camogie club the following officers were elected: Chairperson: Catherine Langton Maher, Sectetary: T Nolan, Tresurer: D O’Brien, PRO R Doyle, Child Welfare Officer A. Doran, U-12 & U-14 training will continue on Saturday mornings 10am to 11am in Skeough. U-16 training commencing soon.
Social Night - Blacks and Whites GAA club will host a social night & medal presentation in Tom Walsh Park Clubhouse on Saturday, April 20 from 9.30pm. A great night is guaranteed with music and food provided. Courtesy transport home for those planning an extra good night is also available. Medals on the night will be given out to the victorious intermediate footballers that won the Intermediate Football league in 2012. Tickets are €10 and can be purchased form committee members. All welcome!
