KILMACOW Sports Complex Committee will host its annual ‘Fun Fiesta’ at the Sports Complex on Sunday, 12th August. The event had been originally scheduled for the 15th July but unfortunately it fell victim to the weather conditions that prevailed in the weeks coming up to it. There will be over thirty different offerings to engage people from 1pm to 6pm. The major events organised include animal corner, duck race, scenic train ride, model aircraft display, archery and rifle shooting, formula 3 race cars and dog show. The Liam McCarthy Cup will be displayed and arrangements will be made to screen the All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final between Cork and Galway. It is intended also to organise a televised horse racing card whereby people can have a modest wager on the outcome of the races screened. Admission is €5 and children are allowed in free. A huge level of preparation has gone into the Fun Fiesta and all attendees can be assured of a great afternoon’s entertainment. The proceeds of the Fun Fiesta will be used to continue the work of developing and enhancing the amenities available at the Sports Complex.
Domestic Waste Water Treatment System Registration - The scheme for the registration of septic tanks is now operational. In official terms the scheme is now referred to as the Domestic Waste Water Treatment System. Registration. Registration forms are available in the Area Office in Newrath. Council staff there will assist with the completion of the form there and will accept payment of the registration fee. The registration fee is €5 until the 28th September. Thereafter it will revert to €50. According to the scheme the registration must be completed by the 1st February ’13.
South Kilkenny Historical Association visit to Newgrange - A most enjoyable trip to Newgrange and Knowth was undertaken by 48 people from the South Kilkenny area on Saturday, 7th July. The excursion was organised by the South Kilkenny Historical Association.
