St Stephen’s Day brings different feelings to different folk, but one feeling in common to several hundred every year is the urge to join in the Annual St Stephens Walk in Gathabawn. Many people like to walk off the turkey and ham while meeting old friends and new at this annual event. This year funds raised will be split equally between our chosen charity Prague House and Gathabawn Rural Development Group to fund the continued enhancement of our village and surrounds. The walk starts from Gathabawn Village at 12pm with registration beforehand. Watch out for Kilkenny Hurlers’ trophies on display. Hot soup will once again be available, free of charge to returning walkers by kind donation of Glanbia, Ballyragget.
Also, Stoneyford FC 5km Race The 5km Run will start and finish in the village of Stoneyford on St Stephens Day and will commence at 12 o clock. The Road Race will have prize money for First Three Men and Ladies to finish. Numerous Spot Prizes. Tea, Coffee and Refreshments in local Community Centre following race. The Race is in Aid of the local Football Club however other Charities are encouraged to use the event to raise funds for their own Charity or Group.
