PARISHIONERS will have much to celebrate this Christmas when their newly-renovated church reopens next Saturday.
After three months of having to worship in the parish hall work is completed at Ballyouskill Church. Canon Tommy Murphy explained that work had started back in October. “There was a difficulty with the ceiling and it needed to be re plastered and the church had to be rewired and painted throughout and there was a new amplification system installed.”
The work cost in the region of between €60,000 and €70,000 to be completed. “The people are delighted that the church is back up and running for Christmas. There is a great spirit of co operation and people were very generous despite the recession. The people of the parish have been fantastic to fundraise over the years,” he added.
