U10s CAMOGIE BLITZ - The Emeralds U-10 Camogie girls had their first blitz of 2013 on Saturday in Ballyragget. The girls put on a great performance winning 2 of their 3 games. They won against Conahy and Ballyragget, and lost to Clara. SYMPATHY - The death has taken place of Mr Tommy Hickey of Craddoxtown, Woodsgift. A very quiet, inoffensive gentleman he will be sadly missed by all his friends. The remains were removed from Doyle’s Funeral Home, Urlingford to St Patrick’s Church, Graine and after Requiem Mass burial took place in adjoining cemetery. Deeply regretted by his sister Kitty Moriarty, nephew Paddy, relatives, friends and neighbours.

URLINGFORD/GRAINE DEFIBRILLATOR GROUP - Meeting once a month in the Urlingford Community Childcare Centre. We would like to get as many volunteers as possible so please come along and bring a friend – together we could save a life.

KILKENNY AGE FRIENDLY - County programme is available to provide “Ageing with Confidence” in your area. The 8 weeks workshop is a personal development programme designed to help people over 55 explore their ageing process. The programme is run by two trained facilitators and looks at all aspects of ageing including physical, emotional and intellectual. The workshop is free of charge and is usually run at local community/parish centres. Enquires welcome from community centres/individuals and groups. PUT THE KETTLE ON - Anna Danielles are hosting an Alzheimer’s tea party tomorrow (Thursday), please feel free to come along and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with freshly baked cakes baked by the Anna Danielle’s team...... lets see if we are as good at baking cakes as we are at cutting hair?!? ST KIERAN’S ATHLETIC CLUB - Congratulations to Mateusz Pietrzykowski, Lauren Hayde, Nonie Lavelle and Caoilinn Smith all of whom participated in the first leg of the ‘A’ Championships at the Watershed, Kilkenny on Sunday, May 5. All four did extremely well with Matt taking home 1st in the U16 boys 100m & 400m and Lauren receiving 2nd in U17 girls long jump. The second leg of the championship takes place on Sunday, May 12 so we wish all those participating the best of luck. Training continues Wednesdays from 18:30-19:30 and Sundays from 12:15-13:45. New members always welcome.
TIDY TOWN’S - A meeting was held last night (Tuesday) looking for volunteers for a general clean-up of the area. You are asked to bring a brush or spade as there area lot of weeds to be disposed of in the general town area. Your help would be very much appreciated. GRAINE ICA - Proposed Summer Trip to Belfast will take place on July 6 and 7. The trip will include: A sightseeing tour of Belfast City and Environs, a visit to the Titanic Exhibit8ion at the Belfast Museum, a visit to a garden centre, shopping arcades and famous buildings. THE GATHERING - As part of The Gathering the parish of Graine and Urlingford are organizing a weekend of activities in August, full details to be finalised. One of these is to have an exhibition of photos in both Graine and Urlingford, which reflects the history of the Parish, and it’s people. We are looking for photos, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, photos of anyone who served in any of the wars or in the army. Any photos of Gardai, Priests or Doctors etc. If you do not want these photos to leave your home we can arrange for someone to call and copy them in your home.
