47 RECEIVE CONFIRMATION - A total of 47 pupils from Clogh and Moneenroe National Schools received their confirmation in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Moneenroe. HANDBALL - Jack Buggy from Clogh Handball Club was the winner of the Leinster U12B Singles competition defeating Finn Dempsey from Offaly in the final 21-10.

PARENTS AND TODDLERS - The Parent & Toddler Group resumes in Moneenroe Hall every Wednesday 10 – 12 am. Cost is €2 per family. There will be Tea/ Coffee for the adults, Juice & Snack for kids. All are welcome to come along for a chat and meet people in the community while your child plays and interacts with other children.
PORTLAOISE MINI-MINI-MARATHON - Calling all walkers, runners and joggers to take part in the Portlaoise Mini-Mini-Marathon on the 17th day of May 2013 in aid of the RISE Foundation. Frances Black will be there to get proceedings underway. The RISE Foundation is dedicated to providing recovery in a safe environment for families with loved ones in addiction. Starting at Centerpoint Car Park at 6.30pm. the route will be out the ring road, around by Fairgreen and back in the Mountmellick Road. All welcome, make it a family occasion, bring the children in the buggy. A 5.5km route, if you are taking part in the Flora Mini-Marathon in June this is an excellent opportunity to test your fitness level and help a great cause in the process. Participants are asked to make a donation of €5 to the RISE Foundation and a monster raffle will be held at the end of the walk. Primary Schools Hurling - The primary school hurlers from Moneenroe and Clogh are experiencing a good campaign to date. They have had good wins against Conahy, Windgap and Galmoy.
In recent weeks they were narrowly defeated by Ballyragget and Tullaroan. Fingers crossed the boys can secure a win against Johnstown N.S. on Wednesday 8th which would place them in the top two and straight into a semi-final. All boys, young and old, from 3rd to 6th class have been training hard. Top performers to date have been Thomas Brennan, Ciarán Cooney, Tom Buggy, Michael Doyle, Kyle Dunne and Eamon Brennan. Well done to all involved.
DINE OUT - The Dine Out dinners provided by chef Paddy Power in the Parish Centre have been an outstanding success with large numbers availing of the service. The meals which have been provided on Thursdays will also be available on Wednesdays and Sundays in future. There is also a children’s menu available on Mondays for the after schools class. Food for special occasions can be ordered and collected from the centre.
BINGO WIN - Congratulations to Michael Ryan, Smithstown who won the €1,580.00 jackpot at Friday night’s bingo in Clogh Parish Centre.
TIDY TOWNS - Clogh School pupils turned out in force to take part in the ‘clean up’ all over the village last week. The ‘clean up’ was part of the campaign to improve the villages standing in the Tidy Towns competition. The Tidy Towns committee have called for more residents to get actively involved.
