Ten terrifying Kilkenny ghosts

With Kilkenny one of the most haunted places in Europe, research reveals an abundance of ghost stories in the county

With Halloween fast approaching and the announcement this week that Kilkenny is one of the top ten most haunted places in Europe, a little research reveals that there are an abundance of ghost stories in the county.

Not surprisingly for a city and county steeped in history and  full of ancient structures, Kilkenny has a rich lore of ghost stories that have been passed down for generations. 

The atmospheric cobbled lanes, tall imposing churches and cathedrals and ancient bridges all lend themselves to imagining ghostly spectres and manifestations materialising out of thin air.
