The Collapse of John Street Bridge
In 1763 when John Street Bridge collapsed suddenly, many people fell to their death in the chilly River Nore below. There were 16 fatalities and local people claim that at the start of the day when mist is hovering eerily over the water, the spectral shapes of these people can still be seen.
