Ten terrifying Kilkenny ghosts

With Kilkenny one of the most haunted places in Europe, research reveals an abundance of ghost stories in the county

The White Lady of Kilkenny Castle 

There has been a building on the site of Kilkenny Castle since the Middle Ages when William Marshal built a fortress there, so it’s no surprise that the building is haunted. There is reportedly a White Lady who appears in the garden and on a staircase inside the castle. She is thought to be the ghost of Lady Margaret Butler (the grandmother of Ann Boleyn the second wife of Henry VIII) who once lived in the castle. A legend says this ghost  ensures that no guest will have a restful night within the walls of the castle.
