Kilkenny café makes decision to close its doors 'with a heavy heart'

Cathedral Café in Kilkenny City, located in the restored Chapter House rooms in St. Mary's Cathedral, have announced plans to close later this month.

The café's final day of operation is set to be Friday, December 16.

In a statement on social media, café management said that the decision to close was made 'with a heavy heart'.

"We have had some great times and made some even better friends but due to the cost of living crisis it is no longer viable to continue," the café statement reads.

The statement thanked all the 'wonderful' customers for their support over the years and all the staff who have worked there, 'especially Mandi who has stuck it out 'til the end'.

The café has long been considered a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax.
