Anne Dalton, a pivotal figure in the Emeralds' victory, said the win was a 'big achievement' for the club.

Former Kilkenny camogie player Anne Dalton praised her side’s determination after a landmark Emeralds victory, insisting that the hunger to win remains as strong as ever as the club reaches the top grade of Kilkenny camogie.

The North Kilkenny club were crowned Abbott Intermediate Camogie champions for the first time since 2005 on Sunday, beating Mooncoin 3-11 to 0-11.

The win completed an impressive 15 game unbeaten run this season and ended a 21 year wait for an intermediate camogie championship.

“It's hurling and camogie in Kilkenny, it's in our blood. Now the club gets to say they're playing at the top grade of camogie in the county, and that absolutely is a big achievement,” she said in an interview with CRKC Sport.

“You see the support here today and the support in the town over the week, the two weeks, so, it means a lot to the club, not just the players, but everyone involved,” Dalton said after the match.

Dalton, who previously played her camogie with St Lachtains, was a pivotal figure to Saturday’s victory and revealed her taste for winning is as strong as ever.

“It's a bit different joining a new club, and it nearly feels like starting from scratch just at an older age. But still, when you play, you want to win, and I'm just delighted to get over the line with the girls today. There's so much potential and talent in that group. It was just me and the older girls probably pushing it over the line, but the hard work was done by the younger legs today,” she added.
