Formed on Easter Sunday, 1964, by Jim Cantwell, the original members of The Nomads included Noel Power (vocals), Fergie Hogan (trombone/vocalist), Paddy O'Keeffe (trumpet/vocalist), Paddy Dooley (guitar/vocalist), Jim Dwyer (guitar/vocalist), Jim Cantwell (saxophone) and Dermot Delaney (drums). During September/October that year, vocalist Paddy Hanrahan joined and guitarist Pakie Dwyer joined in 1965.
They toured Britain on several occasions, sometimes three or four times a year, and 25 years ago in May, 1967, they played in New York and Chicago.

That same year they released Lough Sheelin and during their career, The Nomads played all 32 counties in Ireland.
