Pictures: AKA! Alternative Kilkenny Arts festival celebrates nine years at launch

Pictures by Vicky Comerford

Kilkenny's artistic community got together recently to celebrate the ninth Alternative Kilkenny Arts (AKA) Festival in the Hole in the Wall Pub.

The event had a great turnout of faces both new and old. This year's festival is packed with excitement, with events happening both in the city and around the county from August 4-20.

It's a great opportunity to engage with the work of musicians, poets, visual artists, and others. Programmes are available across the county.

The AKA would like to thank funders Creative Ireland and Kilkenny Arts Office Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Tourism, Kilkenny Leader Partnership and Market Cross Kilkenny.

An extended thank you to sponsors Carlow Brewing Company O'Haras, Costello's Brewing Company, The Hole in the Wall and Ryan's Bar.
