A beautiful morning in South Kilkenny but the River Nore is almost about to breach its banks

Will Thomastown face more flooding in coming days ?

The River Nore in Thomastown is exceptionally high again after recent heavy rainfall. While it looks beautiful in the clear bright winter daylight, the fear that it may breach its banks again, lingers in the minds of anxious locals who keep are keeping a wary eye on the full and rushing river. 

It has been the wettest autumn on record according to Niall Dollard from Kilkenny weather with  September, October, and November beating previous records for rainfall in the county.

Thomastown flooded previously  on November 1 this year with the R-700 road out of Thomastown completely flooded and impassable. Watch this space.
